Picked up a 2015 Z/28
Hey guys, just getting around to posting this. Back in September, I traded my CTS-V wagon and some cash for a 2015 Z/28. WOW! LS7 powered, carbon ceramic brakes. It is a road race ready beast. I drove it home from Virginia, and only got pulled over once! The more I drive these modern muscle cars, the less I get out of driving the old ones. Cruise at 75, satellite radio, just amazing.

Re: Picked up a 2015 Z/28
Pics, please. I've been contemplating picking up a 2014 or 15 Camaro SS convertible. With the 2016's out, these are getting ridiculously cheap. I wouldn't mind a '16, but can't justify almost $50k.

Cool to hear, Buddy!

Mark, go for a 15. I am not a big fan of the 6th gen. It seems to have lost its mean look. I will send someone the pics. I'm not smart enough to post pictures! Buddy |

Re: Picked up a 2015 Z/28
Right? I never liked white cars, but I have grown to love the color. I had an RS/SS big block car in my youth. I painted over the original Cortez silver paint to make it white. Two months later, I sold the car! I got the 15 with 94 miles on it, I put it away with 603. Can't wait for spring!
Buddy p.s. Thanks for posting the pics Sam! |
Re: Picked up a 2015 Z/28
Wow, that's nice. I always liked those since they came out. I should thin out my herd and add one of those.

Re: Picked up a 2015 Z/28
The faulty synapses in my brain make me think that I am rich! Somehow I got the idea that I need one of every generation of Z/28! Anybody have a nice clean IROC?

Buddy, congrats - what a badass car. I love them and think bang for the buck value is through the roof...

Re: Picked up a 2015 Z/28
Congrats, truley a great track capable package. GM has some issues with the valves in their LS 427 engines. The issue
was not resolved for the Z28s. Just something to be aware of. A bit of old school cam, headers and head work and your @ 700 hp Naturally aspirated, which transforms the car to "amazing" Super Car status. The white with all the black accents works real well. |

Smoking Z, congrats.

Re: Picked up a 2015 Z/28
No it was never "fixed". GM has never conceded to the issues. There is a lot of incorrect and conflicting info, even amongst engine shops.
Wegner Motor Sports found, that the coating on the valves as spec'ed by GM from Del West its way too course and wears the valve guides in short order. So we fix the worn guides and send the valves to be stripped and re coated with a non abrasive coating. We have not seen a single valve guide related issue, since, on our custom engines. We spin the LS7s to 7200 rpm. This is really an awesome engineered engine considering the basic design goes back to 1955 for GM. Here I'm testing a line lock / Barker Button in the parking lot prior to delivery of a 700hp Stage III NicKey Z28. |

Figures Stefano and his crew would be on top of this issue!

Interesting as I'm not aware of this and we and several that I know own a 2014/15 Z/28. When did this issue come about, with the LS7 in Z/28 or when still being used in C6 Z06's. Need to review but had not heard of this either on Camaro5 Z/28 forum and quite a lot of those guys are tracking their cars. |

Re: Picked up a 2015 Z/28
I did Chick. One guy has 50k on his. Now I can sleep tonight. I have 603 miles on mine. At this rate, it will take me almost a underdog years to hit 50k miles!
