It's alive!
I finally buttoned up my new motor yesterday and fired it for the first time. Thankfully everything went off without a problem and I ended the day with a nice 25-30 mile cruise. I needed that...
The motor is a Gen 6 454 punched .030". I did a bunch of work to it and installed a Lunati roller cam and lifter set. Lift .625/.625 Duration 241/249 @.050. 9.5:1 with a Holley 850. She sure isn't the 408ci that I took out! I can tell when I eventually stretch her legs, she should have some real nice power. Now I can get back to finishing up the body so I can lay some paint at some point. Then again, I like a primer grey 69... :3gears: For anyone that might want to see my build thread over on TC: http://www.camaros.net/forums/133-bu...post1783027169 I even took to her for a much needed and well deserved bath. No, the mud wasn't from my 69... https://farm1.staticflickr.com/977/4...4718d9c7_z.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/973/4...5c299bc2_z.jpg https://farm1.staticflickr.com/831/4...b4f4401b_z.jpg Video: https://farm1.staticflickr.com/828/2...a272a9d5_z.jpg |
Looking good -- enjoy!! TAZ :flag:

Congrats. Was the 408 a little more radical? How's the torque with the 454?

Congrats Marine! It looks great. Have FUN! :burnout:

One thing is for sure. Bye, bye 800 rpm idle! |
Looks good. Editorial comment though: Hopefully that fuel line is temporary. Long lengths of rubber line make me nervous from a safety perspective (yes, I know lots of guys do this). Also, having it that close to a heater hose and rubbing on upper alternator bracket is not good long term.
Don't take this wrong... not trying to be critical... I'd just hate to see a fire on such a cool car. :) |
