Thanks for posting.

The engine suffix code for the 1965 Chevelle COPO 396/425 engine is known, and Tonawanda records show that one (1) such engine was built. And it went in the black 300 post sedan COPO car that has been discussed on here before, which is heavily documented.

Not one thing pictured in that auction suggests that car was ever a big block. There are small block engine mount stands right there in the one under-hood picture. And the crayon # on the firewall looks like 8375 to me, which was probably 38375 which means nothing more than an SS V8 coupe.

When someone trying to claim such a story does not bother to post any pictures of the VIN tag, trim tag, or engine deck stamp, or the supposed documentation, then either they know it is a bogus claim already, or they have no knowledge about how one would need to substantiate such a claim in the first place. Either way, I see no chance it is what they are claiming.

It does look like a pretty darn good body though ... but not at that price.

Thanks Jeff, I was hoping you'd post. I love the 65 Chevelles but I'm not even interested in it. It did perk my interest when I saw "COPO" in the ad.

A little more information off Facebook Marketplace from the seller.
"This is a June 1965 SS 396cid chevelle (Not a Z-16).
From the research that I have been able to find, this car looks to be a true numbers matching SS 396 chevelle.
In 1965 GM built 211 396 cid cars.
200- Z-16.
1- Z-16 convertible.
1- 300 COPO.
7- Chevelle Malibu SS Coups.
Does anyone else have any other information on these cars"?
