I don't have a '69 assembly manual... From looking at the '68 manual, it shows that all 350 engines went over the inner fender, with the battery cable tube oriented differently depending on trans...

Nice progress!

The 68-69 Olds dash has unique challenges and opportunities. I've tried mocking up an old S-W tach on my column, and it doesn't fit well because of the dash pad shape, unless you...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Olds O-type rears have positively retained axles, which is nice, and aftermarket axles are available. The downside is the limited availability of new gear sets (3.42/3.91 only). Older (some NOS)...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

I'd ditch the heat riser, just make sure the choke works on the carb, you'll be fine. I started and ran my '83 without issue a ton of times with headers (so no heat riser) and a working choke in...

Dale is "gmrocket" on ROP... isn't on CO as far as I know.

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

There are a few floating around. Dick Miller claimed to produce nearly exact repros... there were some pics of them next to an original a few years ago, but I'm not sure where to find them anymore....

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

I know you have your eye set on a few engine builders, but I recommend you at least consider/talk to BTR Performance in Rochester, NY. I didn't realize how close you are to his shop, and Bill is...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Sometimes you can make friends with the local tow company, and offer them cash to move it when they don't have any service calls or priority work. Should be able to get a break and they'll move it...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

If your bumpers don't have external surface rust and haven't been hit/bent, they are likely as nice as you'll ever find. Clean them up for now, rattle can the inside silver if it really bugs you,...

ah... buy those from Bill? Saw his for sale ad the other day, he's a good guy.

My .02... be careful not to over polish/restore those trim pieces if you decide to install them. Putting nicely...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Stefano, sorry for the incorrect assumption.

Ryan, I took a quick skim through the '69 Engine PIM section I have, Section 6-1 Page 210 has the clutch options. There are OU/OS/OW... I think it...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

The most obvious issue would be leaking fluid. Other than that, you can try to spin the fan with the clutch stationary, and the fan should "drag" and not spin more than 1/4-1/2 revolution. If it...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

No prob. 402995 (more details in that thread). They were still available NOS a few months ago, or a wanted ad on classicolds should get you more of an original/patina nice one if you are going for...

Ton of info (and arguments) about shrouds here: http://classicoldsmobile.com/forums/general-discussion/90901-w30-fan-shrouds.html

Post 13 starts a discussion on '69 W-cars. The PIM appears to say...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

I've been doing my seats myself for the '68 with Legendary covers, foam from them (it's really ACI brand), using an installation kit from www.seat-guy.com. (http://www.seat-guy.com) Ben is an Olds...

Re: Ryan Weaver's 1969 Olds Cutlass S W31 Club Coupe

Awesome car, looking forward to seeing it at MCACN!

I would advise against silicone brake fluid unless you are just looking for a show queen. The water not absorbing into the brake fluid isn't...
