Default 1969 Camaro Assembly Line Cowl Induction Air Cleaner

This is an assembly line flat bottom air cleaner base and seal flange from a 1969 COPO Camaro sold at Merrolis Chevrolet on the east side of Detroit. I was told the chrome lid is an original 1968 piece with the curved 'AC' silkscreen on the bottom side. I purchased it in a car/parts deal and do not currently own a car that it's correct for. The lid will need to be stripped and refinished, and the snorkel will obviously need to be repaired. The air cleaner is in overall nice shape with original paint on the base, and minimal surface rust. $500 + shipping for everything. Pics below:

Had an offer for $425 but have not heard back. First $425 plus shipping takes it.

Congrats on the sale Tony. I think someone got a bargain.

So... I am sitting here after a loooong day, drinking a really good German beer.
Trying to figure out in what universe some nimrod saws off the snorkel on a L72 air cleaner.

Can anyone help me out here? I have done some incredibly stupid things, especially when I was young. I remember my Dad buying a 70 Opel Rallye brand new and having A/C installed. They had to hack off the snorkel on his air cleaner to clear the giant York compressor. Dad hit the ceiling. Poor guy. Car had 100 horsepower, and it probably took 30 hp to run that giant compressor.

So, did someone install aftermarket air on their 427 COPO back in the day and have to hack saw the snorkel off? Just can't figure this one out. I just want to meet the guy that was dumber than me in 1969. I have an excuse. I was 16.
