Default L78 starter shield

Does a 1969 L78 camaro with a turbo 400 trans get a starter heat shield?

Thanks!

This information is regarding a starter shield for a '69 Camaro, Nova, Chevelle, Passenger

According to the parts book, Group 2.104 (not including Corvette) in 1969 all 396, 427 cars received the shield, EXCEPT Turbo 400.

In 1970 (not including Corvette) All 396, 400, 454 received the shield.

Corvettes use a different shield.

My very original '69 COPO auto does not have the shield, and I asked the 2nd owner about 30 years ago if it had a shield and he said no.

Until someone can prove otherwise, I am NOT going to use the shield on my Turbo 400 B/B car.

Over the years I asked many people who are well versed in these cars and could not get a definite answer one way or another.

Not sure why they needed it in 1970 and not in 1969.
