Default Holley base plate identification

Hello Eric
I was wondering if you could help me out with an answer to a question that i have. I want to sell a holley base plate from a GM style carb, the one that the PCV comes out at the right side of the base, however i do not know what size carb this thing fits. There are some #'s on it.On the top of the plate(located at the front portion) it has the #'s 12R-5204B and they are raised. on the top of the left front ear, it is stamped 10270. on the bottom of the flange (next to the left ear) it is stamped 10573. the front butterflys are stamped 109, the rears look like they say 311. that is the only #'s that i can find. It is in real nice shape, possibly a take off from the 80's judging from a plastic bracket attached to the right side of the butterfly shaft (lack of a better word) anyway, there is a gentleman on taem chevelle looking for a base plate for 4346, will this work for him and if not would you be interested in it, if he does not want it for say $100. I can send pictures, i just did not have my camera handy today. Thanks in advance for ANY of your help I really appreciate it. Geoff. 831-443-2082 P.S. I even called Holley and they could not tell me what it was for.

Geoff;

Most of the time you won't get too far trying to identify a Holley base plate from the stamped/cast numbers. The exception to this is sometimes you will find a LIST number stamped on the drivers side front ear under the bowl, but that's not real common and is usually found on service replacement carbs.

That being said...

A 780 base would use throttle blades marked with a "172". The "109" primary blades would indicate a 585/600 cfm unit.

Hope that helps.

Eric
