Default Early Design 1970 Chevelle Cowl Induction Hood

I recently found an original early design 1970 Chevelle/El Camino cowl induction hood at a local body shop. They were restoring a 1970 Chevelle SS for a client who opted for a new reproduction hood. There’s no rust at all but does have a couple of dings on it as well as a dent up front, all very repairable. It was taken down to bare metal and primed, which is exactly how I got it. It is just the bare hood, no flapper or accessories included. The early style hoods have smaller openings in the inner structure and do not have the crumple zones that were built into the later design. I believe they changed to the later design sometime around March of 1970 so they are hard to find and are not being reproduced. (SOLD)

Pictures have been added below. Local pickup only due to size and weight of the item.

For anyone on the fence and shying away due to the condition of the sheet metal, keep in mind this has a very nice inner structure and could be removed from the skin and used on another hood. We have had to do it before and it works just fine. If I had a way to pick this up I would be making you an offer.

That’s pretty cool Rick! Yes, this hood is truly rust free and the inner structure is in excellent condition.
