In this thread below Albert notes his Copo is from Jo Bokman Chevy yet I thought he'd mentioned it was from Laks Chevrolet previously too?.
Ask him?.

Have you asked Bob Harris from Camaro Specialties in East Aurora . His place is 10 minutes from Buffalo and he knows a lot about that area.

I remember the dealership name - having grown up in Western NY. There aren't very many of the old dealerships left in the Buffalo area from back in the day. One that still is operating is Don Davis BOP. Maybe if you called them some of the old timers might know some former Bockman employees.

i remember bokman chevy when i was kid. the area it was in is now a very rundown area. which instigated its closing in the early 80's i think. we had a lot of chevy dealers in the buffalo metro area at that time. ive been to just about every western new york area swap meet in the last 20 years and have never seen any bokman chevy memorablia. it was not a high profile dealership so im not surprised to be honest. most of the old dealerships in the area are now defunct or have changed hands.

My friend owns 2 1971 442's that were originally bought from Holiday Olds locally. it shut down a few years back.... and we still cant get any memorabilia from that place either.

Maybe you knew already but I just realized Joe Bokman's address was 2585 Main not 585 thus the same location of Don Allen Chevy previous to the Bokman operation.
Keep trying Jim!

For everyone on this thread: Joe Bokman Chevrolet did exist at Main and Filmore in Buffalo, NY. My father worked for Joe Bokman as Manager over Service, Parts and Collision shops in both Buffalo and Los Altos. Bokman purchased the Buffalo dealership from Don Allen Chevrolet, Buffalo. Sold the dealership sometime around 1972 or 1973 when Joe Bokman purchased a dealership in Los Altos, CA. Both dealership locations have been torn down and replaced by pharmacy in Buffalo and a two or three story multi-building Commercial Office Building complex in Los Altos. Bokman has family in Olean, NY who are also in the automotive business.

Thanks guys, ever see any Bokman dealer stuff? Years ago I bought a Joe Bokman license plate frame on Ebay, but it was from the Los Altos plant. My car was purchased from Buffalo. Was always hoping that seeing how Bokman had frames from Los Altos there would be some from Buffalo. Jim

I believe my car came from bokman chevy in los Altos ca. I looked up the one in buffallo and it looks like they are still in business. Anyone ever get in touch with anyone from there and see if they could find out anything? Curious about my 68 L89 corvette.

My zone number has a crease on my build sheet but I can clearly read 539 and it looks like its only one digit and curved on the bottom so 6 seems highly likely. Then the guy I got the car from bought it in the 70s when it was only a couple years old in San Francisco which is right by los Altos. But I do plan on ordering a shipping report from the ncrs eventually.

yea for some reason the NCRS shows it as Service Chevrolet if that's where your getting your records from. If you have the version with the address attached it shows service chevy to be located at 5172 el camino real in Los Altos. No information ever comes up for Service chevrolet so I started looking up the address and it showed Bokman Chevrolet. I think it possibly could have become Service Chevrolet after Mr. Bokman sold it in the 80s but from 1971 to 1982 it was Bokman Chevrolet. Unfortunately Joe Bokman passed away about 12 years ago but I was able to get in touch with his son today. His son was an extremely nice guy and seemed like he still has a passion for cars with how interested he was in my car even after he said he wouldn't have any information about it from the old dealership.

He said there was a 0% chance any of the old dealership stuff was left or any info for my car. Interestingly enough he said if my car was a 1968 then his dad didn't sell it. They didn't purchase the dealership until 1971. He did know who they purchased it from, Stub Hatch. I looked that guy up and man did he have an awesome story. His father owned a chevy dealership in the 1920-40s. He went to world war 2 and ended up a fighter pilot called Ace, won war medals for shooting down 5 enemy planes in one day, came home opened up his own Chevrolet dealership and wrote a book about his time as a fighter pilot. Im going to try and get ahold of any of his surviving relatives and see if they have any more information to go along with what I've got.

I believe it was just the chevy dreamland department that opened in 1971. If you read the find print under the grand opening dates it says they were approved to do TV conversions on vehicles and opened a new department.

According to mr. Stubb hatchs obituary he opened the los Altos dealership in 1955.
