Will a 67 Chevelle 12 bolt physically fit in a 69?

Yes,it should bolt right in for you,no problem. But be advised a '67 Chevelle rearend is just about 5/8 inch narrower on each side than the 68-72 rears...so you'll have more room for a fatter tire on the outside part of the rim then.

Here's some technical stuff that I gathered before doing a swap on 1 years ago, that may or may not help you:
*1964-67 chevelle rear end housings measured 56.5 inches from flange to flange, and 60.5 inches total length with the drums in place.

*1968-72 chevelle rear end housings measured 58.5 inches from flange to flange, and 62.5 inches total length with the drums in place.

*Rear spring mounting pads on the 64-67 rear ends used a flat pad with a hole drilled in the center, the 68-72 rear ends have a circular spring mounting pad, that are 3/4 of an inch higher that the flat pads.

*1967 was a transition year in which the A-body cars might have a 64-66 style rear end, a 68-72 style rear end, or a "hybrid" rear end that will have the 58.5 inch width, but will have the early spring mounting pad and trailing arm brackets.

*Rear upper control bushing eyes differ, and the position of the bushing eyes will differ. 68-72 rear end housings will have a 3/8 inch forward positioning, which is farther than the 65-67 rear ends.

*1965-67 upper trailing arms are 1 inch shorter and will not fit into 68-72 A-body cars, 68-72 A-body cars have longer upper arms and when switching upper arms the pinion nose angle will be affected.

I'd like to correct one thing here. The width of the '64 to '67 Chevelle rear end is 60 1/4 inches with drums and the '68 to '72 rear end is 61 1/4 inches with drums. The axle length of the early rear ends is 29 1/8 inches and the later axles are 30 1/8 inches. I don't know how that 62 inch width got started on the internet, but it's everywhere and it's not correct. There is exactly 1 inch overall difference in the early and late Chevelle rear ends.

I agree.

Mr. 70

You may recall we discussing in an earlier thread the rear end in my 69 L78. The build sheet calls for a KK there is a CF 3.31 installed now. The date code on the axle tube aligns with the build date of the car, but the casting number of the differential is for a 67. (3894939) I have caught up with the second owner of 44 years and he states he never changed the rear end. I am the third registered owner. I assume that the rear end must have been changed by the original owner. I am the third registered owner. There were two flippers before me. There is zero evidence of this rear end being touched in the recent past. What I am trying to figure out if this rear end is a 67 by visual glues, and you guys have given those to me. I appreciate it. I would like to find a correct dated KK for the car if possible.
Thanks

Many of them have been modified and put under Camaros. The '65 to '67 Chevelle 12 bolt is the same width as the '67 to '69 Camaro rear end.
