Hi All,
I'm looking for any and all photos of Phoenix Dragway from the 1960s/1970s specifically pics of the launch process with track signage in the foreground.
Thank you,
Dan

I think they are one and the same. Check this page out on Facebook.

Interesting. I did not did not find that when I was looking. Damn, I thought Minnesota was a car mecca back in the day but we had nothing on Arizona! I cannot imagine racing in THAT heat!

i dont think much racing occurred in the peak of summer. Many Winternationals occurred at Bee line in any case......cause temps are SWELL in the winter!!!!!

Most seemed short lived. Beeline, Speedworld, and Firebird ("Wild Horse Pass") are the most notable. Beeline had the most history, (excluding NHRA events), lots of AHRA racing and Evel Knievel appeared there at least once. The tower was knocked down about a year ago.

This is great info gents...
A lot of people saw my Instagram post and were asking questions. I asked the question because I just bought the original Phoenix Dragway sign from the launch pad of the original strip. I had to add it to my collection... signs are about 10ft by 2ft. It spoke to me and after chatting with my brother, Mike Goyda and my buddy Spiro (RRover here), I had to step up for it! Seller is a super great guy too.

I am open to being corrected, but I believe Phoenix Dragway later became Speedworld, now closed.

Congrats on a great find Dan. That will look great on a wall somewhere!
As I explained to Dan, my issue with the sign is now we need a bigger shop!
In all seriousness, kudos to Dan for stepping up on this one!
Best,
Dave
