Anyone familiar with the car in the picture? My wife's cousin in KY just bought this and I was just curious if it was a known car by anyone here. I haven't seen it yet, just saw the picture he sent. I wasn't sure if it's a real Judge as I'm not a big GTO guy; I love them, but don't know much about how to document one - is there a way to tell easily if it's a real Judge?

Contact PHS and they can fax or email a copy of the factory documentation listing the build options, pricing and dealer

Thanks Steve, I'll send him the info. Appreciate it, as well as all you do here to make this the best page on the internet.

As Steve says, PHS is the only way to go. Would love to see more pics as it looks relatively un-modified. Later in the model year as it lacks the trim behind the rear wheel. Carousel Red with Parchment interior is a great color combo.

No Judges built prior to 01A, that being said it doesn't have the lower quarter panel trim which stopped sometime in February(ish). PHS is the way to go. A 3.90 geared 4sp car would be cool!

Hopefully I'll get to see it this week or next. Anything specific I should look for other than the VIN and general condition?
Thanks for the great info.

VIN on the motor should be on the passenger side of the timing cover on the front face of the block. 4 speed should be a WS code stamped above the VIN, auto would be YZ code - both for Ram Air 3. Should be a Ram air cable pull under dash. Early cars may not have the glovebox door Judge emblem, I forget the date they were available to Pontiac. The Judge package had nothing exclusive other than the stripes and badges, all easily added. Every other option could be had on a standard GTO, including the Ram Air 4 engine. PHS is your friend.

These guys keep up with invoices and try to piece together the archeology. Someone may even know the history of your car.

But, yeah, PHS is mandatory and 72 72 paint will suggest a Judge in 99% of cases.

The Judge I owned in the 80's was delivered to dealer in Beauford, S.C. from the Atlanta/Doraville plant around mid Feb 69. As well as those lower quarter trim piece, the very early Judges were also missing the GTO emblem on the dash, AND the glove box emblem, and were missing from mine. Miss that car. Still have the shifter handle. Before PHS I actually contacted a guy at Peterson Publication and he said to get in touch with Pontiac Public Relations I believe it was. Man, i recv'd a ton of literature and a microfish copy of the build sheet. The next owner has all that now.

Nothing yet. I was out of town for a week and a half. I'm going to contact him tomorrow to maybe see the car Wednesday as it's supposed to rain all day here in KY.

Well, I tried to get over to see it, but there were a number of CV cases in their church and local area where we were, so I think that since he's an older guy, he was reticent to have anyone over and never got back to me about seeing it. Bummer. Hopefully I'll get another chance later in the fall or spring if we go back up to go check it out.
This is a holy grail for him, so I'm sure he'll have it for quite sometime, but I'm still bummed about not seeing it in person.
