Very sad. Sounds similar to the problem of "unintended acceleration" or floor mat interference. Or maybe just mistaking hitting the accel instead of braking. I'm just supposing.

I have used Flitz plastic polish on my 69 Camaro tailights and was pleased. Just do not pre-sand (unless they are flat and really scratched). Just keep polishing by hand. :)
