Better . . . waiting for my project . . . 15x4's near NOS, with NOS center caps (both standard and 3-Bar Spinners).
Helluva find. Getting pretty rare I think. |

As everyone knows, 15" wheels from the 1960's car tough t find for Muscle Cars. I was real excited to find a set of these Parnelli Jones wheels on ebay. First pic is of the ones I bought and others are just for fun reference.
Kinda look like the Keystone wheel. Some even run the Keystone cap when they can't find blank ones or the PJ cast ones. |

Various Mr. Gasket items.
The oil pan bolts say Mr. Gasket on the them. I'll use a set of these on my ET finned cover for the 12 bolt. Dzus oil pan plug is cool as well as the clutch stop. It's not been opened to look at the instructions, but I'm thinking it bolts up as a stop at the clutch pedal itself. |

Actually there is a design older than those. I saw it for the first time at the Solid Lifter Showroom this past summer. I'll have to dig out the pictures, but it was on a fellow who had a very original 1966 Impala race car. With the "juice jar" master cylinder it was originally plumbed as a 4 wheel line lock. The owner told me at the time it was originally offered by Hurst as a new item in 1965. My dad has the cast iron one on the left in his 67 Nova and Ken Barnhart has the one on the right on his 69 ZL-1 which he told me was new in 1969. I've got the one on the right NOS wiht a Sears receipt but in the older looking package. |

Interesting they changed where the second hole is. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
That boot is for the V-gate or Vertigate which is the Mr. Gasket design. Mr. Gasket dropped the Ram Rod shifter when they bought out Hurst... I think.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I was under the impression that the one on the right was late 70's or sometime in the 80's. Very interesting.

Here is the first Hurst Line lock. http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...7/DSCN2856.jpg If you look real close, the Hurst logo is in the brass section. http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...7/DSCN2858.jpg Here is one I have from 1969 with the dated instructions. Illistrations reflect this type of unit too. Note the older box. http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...7/DSCN3360.jpg http://i710.photobucket.com/albums/w...7/DSCN3363.jpg |

This is so interesting. The early package I have that looks like yours, has the common type solenoid. However, the later package on the right, has a solenoid that looks more like yours. But it is not exactly the same.
The one on the car is very cool. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
What is real interesting is that I bought a line lock that was in a box (more of a black and yellow Hurst from the 1970s that looked just like the one you have on the right. The switch had a black button on it like that one appears and the solenoid did NOT say Hurst on it anywhere. It almost looked like an off brand re-packaged. I ended up returning it to the guy in the Auction because nothing said hurst on it, and I paid "Hurst money" for the thing on ebay.
I highly doubt that somone would have done that twice, but yours does look that way a bit. |
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
----Get Tom to post a pic of Red Alerts line lock as it has been on there since 1970, I believe......Bill S
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
You may have had an actual Hurst piece, because the one on the right doesn't say Hurst neither. I bought it from the original buyer.
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
That must be a rare line lock, and probably the only item Hurst never put its name on. Neat to have something different.
|
Re: Day 2 parts discussion
Well... I was going to install the one on the left, but maybe I'll do the one on the right. Maybe we can get some more input on these.

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
The different designs of the Hurst line locks are confusing. Here is a pic I swiped off the internet (possibly this site) some time ago of the style I thought would be correct for Day 2ing my 1970 Nova:
http://i371.photobucket.com/albums/o...rstLineLoc.jpg I bought one that was supposed to be a Hurst and looks similar, but isn't quite the same, and it doesn't say Hurst on it. It looks like the one on the right in Hemicolt's pic, so maybe it really is a Hurst? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbt...e=IMG_0828.JPG Hemicolt, does yours say "MASTER CYL." on one end and "12 VOLT D.C." and "WHEEL CYL." on the other end? That's what mine says. Biondo's current offering is probably similar enough to fool 99+% of the general public: http://www.biondoracing.com/images/shopping/LL.jpg http://www.biondoracing.com/RacerEssentials.shtml#LL |

The pic you posted is one I originally took shooting various parts of Ken Barnhart's ZL1. it is 100% correct for anything post 1969.
There is a guy who is making a reproduction sticker for earlier style I'll call it the 1967 style. If I had one, I would want it to say Hurst. Heck you could probably put the repro sticker (it is on ebay occasionally) on the one you have. http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HURST-LINE-L...ies&vxp=mtr |

Re: Day 2 parts discussion
I think those NOS Keystones are bitchin'! They may be a GM bolt pattern but I've always associated Keystones with being at home on Chrysler products for some reason. In fact, I can remember being at the Street Machine Nationals back in the '80's (the CC Nats!) and a friend and I made a point to count how many Mopars we could find with Keystones and the number was astounding!

Sox and Martin put them on the Pro Stock cars they were building and selling in the early 70's. Didn't see many chevies running those back then. Bobby Warren ran them on his Super Stock and Stock Chevies but that is all I can remember. Maybe Pontiacs but Chevies??? Mark is right again!
