The bird pictured on the American silver dollar was a real eagle named Peter. From 1830 to 1836, people who worked at the United States Mint adopted him to use as model for the drawings. When he died after getting his wing injured in the coining press, they stuffed him. He is still on display in the lobby of the Philly mint

Not only do money engravers work with incredible precision, but they also have to illustrate backwards. The design they cut into the plates is the mirror image of what it will look like when it is printed. It takes 12-15 years of training to become an engraver.

The Latin phrase Annuit Coeptis above the “all-seeing eye” on the dollar bill means “he has favored our undertaking.” The Latin phrase underneath the pyramid on the dollar bill, Novus Ordo Seclorum, means “a new order of the ages” and refers to the time after 1776 when America declared its independence.

Silver is exceptionally shiny! It is the most reflective element, which makes it useful in mirrors, telescopes, microscopes and solar cells. Polished silver reflects 95% of the visible light spectrum. However, silver is a poor reflector of ultraviolet light.

The most common form of silver is sterling silver. This is actually only 92.5% pure silver, with the other 7.5% made up of other precious metals including copper.

Britannia silver is an alloy of 95.8% silver and 4.2% copper, also used for jewelry and silverware.

Mexican silver is 95% silver and 5% copper.

Fine silver is at least 99.9% pure and commercially available, but too soft for general use.

There are 6 other classes of Silver (10 total)

In the past mirrors were backed with silver because it was highly reflective. Nowadays aluminium is used instead as it is cheaper and doesn’t tarnish over time like silver does.

In 1999, the people of Bethel, Maine built a 113' 7" tall snowman, Angus, King of the Mountain.

Nearly a decade later in 2008, they built the world's tallest snowwoman, Olympia Snow Woman, who stood at 122' 1" and used 13 million pounds of snow.
She didn't fully melt until July 30 of that year.
