Does anyone know when they switched to the GM logo and the pebble grain? I have only seen one or those... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gifI'm thinking late 69-70 possibly 71...I have a 69 Compass that shares the same texture as the GM tach..... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Humm..........Look at the difference in the Alternator Brackets between the Maroon car and Jody's Black 66 425 H.P. car........Are they both correct.....Early vs. Late etc.??????

The bracket was probably cut. GM didn't make one like that. The bracket in the 2nd pic is correct. My favorite GM mole can't find any documentation to support that short design. Cutting it like that weakens the support for the alternator. Things twist under load. That's why they changed it from the 1965 design. You don't want to have belts flying around at 7 grand! Since we're picking, the upper heater hose nipple on the intake isn't factory correct in the 1st pic. 2nd pic (Jody's) is factory correct. I guess Jody or previous owner added the engine chrome.

Ken, the bell housing should be #3872444. Fan looks good. I've seen 2 designs. That's one of them. Why so many digits in the part number of the crank pulley??

-----Im not sure if Im seeing things correctly, but it appears as though Jodys car has the bolt missing from that correct alternator bracket that would go thru to the intake. That would promote a bunch of twist as well!!!........Bill S

Also........A "STRICTLY" Hypothetical situation....Let's say that in this "Hypothetical" situation....you were working in your garage spraying Chassis Black on glass beaded cleaned parts and you had two Rattle cans........the first can is now empty and you reach for the second can and it falls onto the floor......when it hits the floor the plastic cap pop's off and the spray nozzle breaks off just below the surface so you can't get a pair of pliers on the broken stem to pull it out.......I would highly recommend that you do "Not" get a very small screwdriver and try to pick the broken part out so you could replace the broken one with the empty can's nozzle.....I "Hear" Bad things could happen.........But.......I'm sure that nobody here would be "Stupid" enough to try something like that......."Right"
