Anyways...have a wonderful holiday weekend! Take the Nova out for a spin https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |

I feel your pain. What color is your interior. On my 68 nova I waited 2 months for a ivy gold carpet. The vender I ordered it from just kept saying next week. Then 2 months later no carpet so I called another resource and they had it in stock and I had it in three days. You could say I was not a happy person. I have learned when ordering parts to ask if it is in stock and if they say no, I hange up the phone and try another source. Just my 2 cents. Jason [/ QUOTE ] I've learned to ask about parts in stock also.....but they alway's say it's in stock......but when it does'nt show up, they say it's being Drop Shipped.....waited for three weeks for a Speaker...finally cancelled it after dealing with Mr. Attitude.....and got it in one day from D&R.......it was generic to Camaro's......Too bad they don't deal in "Big" car stuff........Good Vendor The Interior in the Biscayne is Fawn......Everyone else in the world has Beige as Fawn.......the covers I got are dark Gold.........Again......I'm the only one that has had this problem....... Re: Biscayne Resto Project
Had the Headliner put in yesterday......first I had to get Windlace made as the "Factory Stock" Windlace I was sold(Twice ....and have the bills to prove it ...LOL)was non useable (colors not even close)....any how, I've given up on trying to deal with C.A.R.S. on getting what I need.....they shown the right stuff in their catalog, but it's not what they sent me and I can't wait another 10 weeks for them, so I sent the seats out to a local shop for recovering.........Why is this so hard.......I just don't get it.....It's not "Brain Surgery"......Anyhow....got the headliner in and installed the Door Panels (Just Dashes did a great job, except the retention nails they pre-installed were in position on one side and way off on the other????), Installed the window mouldings, started to install the carpeting and found that there is major trimming to be done to get it to fit.......better more than not enough I guess.....got the Radio installed and put a set of repro-correct kick panel speakers and a set of rear package tray going in also...."Still waiting for the Radiator" 11 weeks and counting.......the Radiator that came with the car was good until I forgot it was under the Lift and when I lower it the Radiator got Downsized........Darn....Don't you hate when that happens.......Anyhow....here are some latest pic's

The new covers you have I have seen in 66 with more of a bronze interior not fawn. Like this one. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...sCars/bis2.jpg The 66 fawn ones the top was the same color as the top of your door panels. Not a very good picture but you can see enough to see the top of the seat matches the top of the door panels. Not sure if I helped or caused you more headaches. I would research it further but I think you will find gary's combo is 65. Take care Joe http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...Cars/66bis.jpg |
Re: Biscayne Resto Project
Joe, I believe your picture and what Ken got are Belair interiors. I think Biscaynes are different.
|
Re: Biscayne Resto Project
Hello, That seat cover Ken got is 1966 Biscayne....cloth pattern matches my original. I do agree the color at the top of the cover is wrong though. Mine is blue and the top of the seat covers matches the top of the door panels...Just my experience with my 66........
|
Re: Biscayne Resto Project
You are right for sure belair and biscayne used different patterns. If I was not so lazy I would try to find my 66 dealer albumn since I think it has fabric samples in it.Belair had lines like the 65 seat pictures Ken posted. His new covers I think are biscayne just not his fawn color.
This is a 66 belair as far as I remember. http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h2...ars/belair.jpg |

If it is a 66 biscayne I am confused. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif You need the cloth pattern they sent with the top to match the top of the door panels and dash pad.I bet they have it since that color vinyl was used on a lot of Gm models. |
Re: Biscayne Resto Project
Gary's is a 65 and you're right, if the top panel was the same it would be acceptable........

Re: Biscayne Resto Project
After getting back from the Power Tour and looking at the Biscayne in the garage.....I got a bit motivated and trimmed out the carpeting, installed kick panel speakers, installed the Kick Panels and things were starting to move smoothly again..........until I opened the box with the repro Sill Plates.......the Fisher Body Emblems were missing.......after calling the supplier.....I was asked...."How could that happen"...........I said......I can't Imagine Either........Where doe's it end with this "Crap"......still waiting for the Radiator.....9 weeks at this point......also got the Power Steering Hoses and support bracketry installed........Here are some new pic's

Are you sure you don't have to buy the emblem separately? Seems weird that 2 individually packaged plates would be missing the emblem.

Re: Biscayne Resto Project
I sell these parts and as far as I know they are packaged separatly as FISHER BODY is a trademarked name.By separating the emblem you only have to license the emblem itself and not the whole door sill plate.Less money for GM.But when I sell the moldings I include the emblems. What I don't understand is why you didn't use GM ones, as far as I know they're still avaiable(at least they are in Canada)I think restoation parts are like anything else. Some are good, some are OK, some just suck outright. When you buy your parts mailorder thats the chance you take.A reputable dealer should advise you whats good and what not.Just an idea but a good category for this forum would be a report card rating quality of purchased resto parts. This might give manufacturers more insentive to build it right the first time.Great example:67/69 F-body door sill mouldings, the ones you can still get from GM lack any detail, the corvex repros are as thin as tissue paper. At SEMA I recommended to TRIM PARTS(a quality parts supplier) to repro these items. That was 10 years ago,I think they are finally getting around to it.Anyway I don't want to steal your thread.Remember a lot of resto parts suck but even nos parts are not like the originals(as GM outsourced to differant manufacturers and are only meant to do the job not look cosmeticly correct).I'm getting dizzy, gotta go.Steve

Re: Biscayne Resto Project
Update......Finally got in the Oil Pressure switch adaptor (and it actually fit) and installed it, been waiting to pre-lube the engine till the oil system was sealed up.......went to get one of those pre-lube tools that spins the oil pump to pressurize the system......the Tool didn't have a body portion on it to fill in the area as the distributor would....anyhow it just didn't feel like it was building pressure while spinning it with a drill......So......I had an extra Distributor and decided to make my own ........I cut the teeth off the Distributor gear and instead of welding a stud on the top of it and ruining it........I took the rotor off and removed the centrifical advance springs leaving the spring studs that are solid to the Dist shaft........I then made an adapter that I put in my Electric drill and spin the unit......the adaptor had a couple of holes in it that engaged the spring studs and with the teeth gone it spun the pump and built pressure just like it was supposed to do.....all I have to do is put on a new gear if I ever need to put it back in service......here are some pic's
