[ QUOTE ] ok Bill what are these pups here that insisted on buzzing the tower? http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q...3/scan0028.jpg [/ QUOTE ] A-7 Corsair's. Air National Guard possibly? [/ QUOTE ] Chance-Vought A-7 Corsair II's, to be exact! ("Corsair II" since the first Corsair was the F4U WWII-era bird. Actually, there was a Vought Corsair biplane in the '30s but we'll leave that for another time!) Since he's shooting aircraft carriers they're probably Navy birds but the USAF used A-7s as well. I got my "good eye" watching planes as a kid and it came in handy later on when I was a KC-135 tanker pilot and had to spot those dudes way out as they approached for a refill. (I wasn't a C-student for no reason! Had my nose buried in airplane books and car magazines.) |

Do you know the purpose for this demonstration? Just Ford haters, or something more to it? [/ QUOTE ] The Ford Fairlane ('64, to be exact) car-launch above was probably for morale purposes but it's been done many times before. I have a late-50s photo from Hot Rod showing the Navy catapulting a late-40s Mopar convertible off of a carrier during a post-overhaul cruise. Let me see if I can find it in Photobucket. Looking.... Found them! http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...tapult1961.jpg Adios Mopower!!! (They never do this to Chevys....) http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...apult19612.jpg |

Re: Aircraft pics
FF tail code indicates the 1st FW at Langley AFB, VA. He's a long way from home. Probably on a dog-and-pony show tour with the new jet. Looks like the Wing Commander's plane with the "1st FW" code on the tail.
