It all seems to go by so fast. Far as the wheels go, aren't the insert areas more of a dark charcoal gray? |
Re: Restoring 14 x 7 SS (AO) Wheels
on a 70 5 spoke SS wheels it should be a dark charcoal with a tiny bit of metallic, as mentined previously, Donnie mixes a spraybomb in the perfect shade of this

I took various corner close up pics of each wheels black insert....its any ones guess if these are original paint? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/P1011445.jpg [/ QUOTE ] Good shot here. I'll put my money on them being original. Looks like they barely missed the break when masking. Just another little detail to prove these cars were a long way from perfect when they left the dealerships. I'll try to put up pix of mine later this afternoon. Thanks Dan! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif Hi Mia. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Sully, I agree completely. And in addition, about a 70%-80% gloss. |

Re: Restoring 14 x 7 SS (AO) Wheels
I had some Corvette rally wheels powder coated. After a year or so,a little rust started to appear between the centre piece and the rim part that it is welded too. Powder coating doesn't seem to creep into the cracks and crannies. Once the rims are done, you might want to spray a little WD40 or something in there just to keep moisture at bay.

Re: Restoring 14 x 7 SS (AO) Wheels
that area between the rim and center piece should be caulked because the powdercoat does not get in there.
