Re: Rechrome of Cragar SS wheels

If they are 15 inch I might be interested. (If they are 14 inch I might still be interested, LOL)

Anyone bought the direct drill 15x4.5 they are still
Made do they have the wide band around then. Do they have the round spike in time yes but have not seen them myself

As for rechroming 15x4 anyone done. One lately? Pricing?

Any ideas on keeping them from rusting?
I’ve lalways heard to polish them using aluminum foil.

If anyone has one 15 x4 let me know I have one starting to get slight pits and since my car was a race car I need to keep it looking as it did.

If it was $225 per wheel in 09, I can't imagine it is less then $500 today.

Who knows. Just know while mine are fairly nice they won’t last forever. I try but you know how that goes Mother Nature is trying to break down everything all the time even US .

If anyone has thoughts on how to keep them from getting worse please let me know.

Thought about using this clear in that area just to keep them free of moisture of any kind . Thoughts?

As far as cleaning, WD40 works great. I use a scotch pad that will then be discarded.

Thanks Lynn I used WD40 for years on them . My daughter jokes that I’m like the guy w windex in that Greek wedding movie that sprays it in everything. Lol I live w wd40 in my hand 😂

I think hitting and wiping them down with WD40 beats any sealer. Moisture can get behind a tiny crack in "sealer". Then it is working backwards from what you want; holding moisture IN.

Once every couple months will do it.

I’ve used boeshield on them too I use that on my 300x boat engines but it leave a nasty film I was looking for something I don’t need to clean off that’s permanent preferably. Thought about silver por15 in a rag and wipe it into any pitts good, then wipe it off let whatever is left seal uo the pores in the chrome to make it solid . I have another set I think I’m gonna test that on the other set. Both these ideas posted are good and things I’ve used in the past. But they still get slight pitting in that area. Not bad for at least 35 years on the car. One is perfect like NOS. . It’s just this one giving me headaches

While on the subject, anyone know how much it DOES cost to have a set rechromed / restored? Secondly, who to use?

I have two direct drill vintage 15 x 10 in Chev bolt pattern. I also have two unilug that I will be giving away in 15 x 8 (I think.... ).
