Re: Dick Landy Hemi Challenger
Why is it labled as a 70 with 71 grill and tail lights on it?

Why is it labled as a 70 with 71 grill and tail lights on it? [/ QUOTE ] i would think because the VIN decodes as follows VIN JS23R0B346817 Body Type: J = Challenger R/T Price Class: S = Special Body Type: 23 = 2 Door Hardtop Engine: R = 426 HEMI 425HP 2-4BBL 8 CYL Year: 0 = 1970 Sequence Number: 346817 = 246817th Vehical Built Wonder if the sister street HEMI car is also for sale |

Body Type: J = Challenger R/T Price Class: S = Special [/ QUOTE ] Actually, the J is for a Challenger, and the S is for the R/T. A "regular" Challenger would be in the "High" price class, so it is coded "JH." It starts with "Low" (in some cases, but not the Challenger's), then "Medium" (ditto), then H, then "Premium" (ditto), then S. Interestingly, the quasi-luxury Challenger SE received a different body code (29 instead of 23), while the respective Plymouth Barracuda Gran Coupe received a different price class (it was "P") yet had the typical hardtop body code of 23. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif |
