Another one Danny is when you're parked on the end of a row and someone parks on the other side of you extending the row because they think there car is better than yours.

I have to agree with Wes. I like the good ol' days at the Sun Drive-In and Porkys when you and your friends all arrived at the same time and took whatever spots were available. There were times that I got there late and there were no available spots. Oh well, my loss. I could not agree more with the Car Craft Nationals in St. Paul and one of the reasons I quit bringing a car. Being from out of state now it makes it harder for me to get there and 'save a spot' and even if you arrive on time it is nearly impossible to get a spot as many of these people start putting up cones and barriers Thursday afternoon.

Hey Wes, didn't your dad put up a bunch of cones next to his SS427 Impala? When I stopped and talked to him he said you were due to arrive any minute........ Just giving you crap.

Yes, we arrived together and I had to unload my Coronet off the trailer and he zipped in ahead of me. Yeah, it was a good 10-20 before I got in. Unfortunately we all have to play the &quot;game&quot; of saving spots even if we hate the idea of doing it. GUILTY!!!

Like Rich...If all the players know the rules beforehand (like at Pavillions...you can save spots until 4pm)...then there shouldn't be an issue. There is one guy that goes to Pavillions that pulled the stunt of moving someone elses chair out, so his &quot;friend&quot; could park there.

The cool thing is that the guy who was saving the spot came back and confronted him....in front of everyone, then proceeded to park his car directly in front of the spot he was trying to save.

Then he left...and stayed within viewing distance of his car. He didn't move the car until well after 9pm...and visited with friends the whole time

Ditto! I totally agree. You are not alone. The idiots and wannabe's are everywhere. We have people show up to &quot;classic&quot; car shows with everything under the Sun. Including crap that looks like kids in their Moms car.
The sadder part is some are controlled access events, and they let them in. It's not enough that we are always overloaded with the new Challengers, Camaros, and Mustangs... that are nothing more than new cars, maybe with some stupid LED lights. No mods. Just stock new cars, and they think they belong.

We share your frustration. But i would have been all over their ass at the beginning and held those spots. It's a fine line between being nice and sociable with fellow car enthusiasts, and dealing with assholes. It's always a call you have to make. Don't let them get to you. Go back again, and stand around the front of your car bowed up, daring anyone to challenge your spots. </div></div>

So the only people who have a &quot;right&quot; to enjoy the hobby are people who share your exact taste in cars?

I agree with old5.0
Like it or not many of us old schoolers also have a newer Muscle car in the garage so when I bring my 2007 GT 500 Shelby instead of my 1970 Chevelle or Challenger I should not be able to park with the other cars?
Honestly it is not a nice thing to say to not bring modern muscle cars to these shows as the new era has some pretty kick ass horse power under those hoods

Re: I'VE HAD IT WITH PEOPLE AT CAR CRUISES

It all boils down to common courtesy!! There are some shows and cruises that do not want people saving spots. I respect that and do not do it or we all arrive together and park together. In my opinion when a chair, cone, cooler or whatever is placed in the parking spot it is personal property and should be left alone, hands off!! Unless the owner of the business or parking lot moves it or tells you to what authority does some jack a$$ have just because &quot;he doesn't like it&quot;. Guess what TOO BAD!!!!

Is it getting to the point where someone wants the spot my car is in, Oh now I should just move to another spot because they want my spot?? &quot;Oh, I'm sorry sir you arrived an hour after I did and you like my spot, I'll just move my car for you&quot;...

I know I should have jumped up and said something right of way but it might have gotten physical at that point and I was trying to cool myself down. To me that is not worth it. I have seen this crap happen way too often in the past couple years not only to me but others and just blew a gasket!! I have been going to cruises and shows for a long time and can't remember people being so bold and rude as they are now. I did give this jerk a good tongue lashing!! I doubt he will pull a stunt like that again.

As to the guys who don't like the spots being saved, what is the big deal? The only trouble I see with it is if the parking lot is getting very crowded and the spots are still saved that is rude and common sense should prevail and the spots should be let go. That pisses me off when people do that. To me that is NOT common courtesy. The people who the spots are being saved for should get themselves at the function at a reasonable time, don't come or find another parking space. I do feel strongly about that.

Yesterday when I arrived at the cruise at 3:25 PM there were a ton of parking spots to park in other than the back row by the shade. These guys could have parked in other spots and brought their chairs over to the shade. I have seen people do that and their car is still within eye sight if you are watching it for &quot;touchy feely&quot; people which brings up another whole topic that pisses me off!! If the parking spots in the back row had been all taken that is what I would have done, not just take it upon myself to move someone's property because &quot;I&quot; want to park there. There were many spots in this back row already being saved by other guys when I arrived.

The other thing is , if you don't like it get there early and park where you want!! Nobody says you can't do that...

Just my .02 for what it's worth.... I'm not trying to piss anyone off here on the site, I just feel pretty strongly about these issues and I know in the grand scheme of things it is &quot;small potatoes&quot; and there are bigger and worse problems out there to worry about..

Personally, saving a spot or multiple spots for your friends who will be there later on gets on my nerves and is just plain not fair to anyone who gets to a show early. Especially when the show is small and there is a limited amount of decent parking spaces. I'm the guy who will move your stuff out of the way and park there. Just like it was stated earlier, you don't let all of your friends jump in front of you since you're first in line at the roller coaster.

Again, what gives you the authority to just move someones personal property and park where you want?? Like I said if you don't like it get there early and park where you want. First come first serve, right? If I get there before someone else why can't I save the spot especially if it is allowed? I was there first, you should respect that. If the cruise is small and filling up, then yes then I see no problem with releasing the spots as a common courtesy. I have also got to a cruise or show and paid for my friends if there is an entrance fee and told people that the spots are paid for.

But I have friends that don't take their time and will get there promptly so overcrowding does not become an issue. Never is the spot tied up for that long. Usually well under a half an hour if that..

Personally,I am from the camp that if you are not there in person, you don't get an advantage over those that are.
Like when you enter a raffle drawing, and they call your name and you are not there, they pick another name, and rightly so.
I understand your frustration, but you got to know when to walk away, and realize how trivial this all is.
Recently a musclecar owner who is also an off duty cop, confronted a person who claimed a spot here at a local cruise. He ignored his chair and drove right in.The two went chest to chest, and got in each others faces. The off duty cop gently pushed the other guy to get out of his face, the guy fell down on the street and claimed he was hurt and called police.
The cop went to court for assault, was found guilty, fined and was put on unpaid leave.

..plus we are not new to this.
