Re: Lakewood roll cage ID

Mike,
That is definitely a Loop for s First Gen F body. The floor & rear seat brackets confirm that.
The Loops are all the sane for Camaro, Novas, Chevelles, Mustangs, Cougars, Cud as, Challengers pony cars,mud-size cars etc..
The mounting brackets and rear floor brackets (are #,,,,numbered ) for specific individual and various applications.
The Swing out side bar is also a Lakewood option as a weld on bracket, for the pin attachment , all
else is a bolt in. (some, a lot were welded in later. as per Sanctioning bodies required for safety......
That Roll bar (It's NOT a Cage) is a100% Authentic LAKEWOOD INDUSTRIES Bolt-in Loop with the safety -swing out bar option /upgrade
I have Part numbers from Lakewood.

I have a bar from a Chevelle I can post oixtures for reference. The early Camaro ones seem to be the most common. I have a pic of a bar for a 55 Chevy too. Maybe we can build a thread on how to id the various bars.

I was at the Butler Parts-A-Rama in 1990 or so, maybe '89 and a guy had 10-12 of the Lakewood mounting kits for various cars-he cleaned out an old speed shop. I'm think he was asking $10 each..did not buy any. doh

Of course back then these were obsolete bars for racing purposes and no one was into nostalgia Day 2 stuff back then except me and maybe 5 other people in the US.

Looking forward to seeing these posts, Tom....I purchased 2 more bars over the weekend, both without the door bar. I'm positive that all three are for Camaros....unfortunately, leaves the issue of not having the correct mounting plates for my Nova....Adam

That bar is sitting in my shop waiting to go in the 977 mile ex-SS/H Camaro I now own. Some members here saw the car at the most recent SLS. Currently, there is an article about the car and a bunch of pictures on MSN, Hot Rod Magazine's website, and Facebook that was written by Jerry Heasley.
