Our survivor 70 L78 4spd car had a small 'loop' welded to the header tube for the return spring...pretty neat idea.

It could have been as simple as being part of a power steering hose bracket someone fashioned to hold them away from a set of headers.
This is mine. I could see someone throwing that on there at some point.

That &quot;L&quot; shaped home made bracket is the clutch spring attach point for a car with headers, did the exact same thing on my 69 Camaro L78 car when I installed the headers. And what you can not see in my picture is the piano wire extension rod I made and bent up to clear the header tube, the rod is much like what you see on a stock SBC application.

Here is a pic of the tab I welded to the header tube for the clutch fork spring. This was on my 72 RS/SS BBC Camaro -- headers have been hanging on the wall ... pretty dirty. TAZ https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...pg_tab_001.jpg
