The ZL1 Corvette pictured is not a prototype. It was a production car built late in the 1969 model year.

LOL ... :) On the black and Gold car the factory ZL-1 "Street Detuned engine" was a 396 L-78.

Interesting that the prototype deck lid stripes did not terminate under the spoiler like production Z/28 and Z10-Z11.

Look @ the chrome tailpipe extensions on the Yellow Car & the B&W photos of the black car.
They look like 1970 Chevelle SS..

Supposedly the Black & Gold COPO 9567 ZL-1 Special Camaros do exist - locked away in some warehouse that GM owns.There were two of them: one with an M21 and the other with an M40. No one has ever claimed to have seen them since the day those B & W photos were taken. That may be wishful thinking that they still do exist as opposed to having them sent to the crusher and destroyed which GM frequently did with it's prototypes.
