It's about 40 miles North of me, it's real bad, went from 20,000 acres to 80,000 over night. Winds and dry air are the big problem. Fire fighters are not even trying to stop it right now, concentrating on rescues. We are covered in smoke with ash falling. I have heard of 5 fatalities so far and many unaccounted for, many elderly in particular. Here are some pictures and videos if you are on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/boostedbrit...0853144&type=3

At least 5 dead and more than 20 homes and businesses, and thousands in danger.

Wow, that sucks!! I hadn't heard about the fires up North. Our news down here has full of the shooting in Thousand Oaks, the fires in Newbury Park (bad) and Griffth park (this morning, I think out now). The winds are whipping things up here. How are the winds up there? I hope everyone is still safe and stays safe.

So sad, people didn't even have time to get their pets and animals out

This afternoon it was 110 square miles that had burned.

I've spent my last two trips flying North and South within California. Only a few small fires as of last weekend, very little to worry about. Now, I can't believe what I am seeing on the news. It looks awful. My thoughts and prayers are with those that are in danger. Very scary!

PROVO — For the second year in a row, some Utah firefighters will be spending Thanksgiving away from their families in order to help firefighters in California.

A type 3 engine with a four-member crew from the Utah County Fire Department left Friday morning for California to help crews fight the highly destructive and fast-moving Camp Fire in Paradise, California. The fire has burned approximately 20,000 acres and several thousand buildings, and forced the evacuation of all 30,000 residents.

State fire officials on Twitter announced that firefighters from the Utah Division of Forestry, Fire and State Lands, Draper, Provo, Bluffdale, Cedar City and Hurricane, Washington County, are also en route to assist with the fire.
