Back in 2002, I purchased a white 1970 Malibu. 350 L48, M20 4 Speed, tach & gauges, 12 bolt 2.73 posi, bench seat, power disc brakes, with manual steering. Bought it from the original owner who claimed he ordered the ducted hood for it and when the car showed up without it, the dealer claimed there was a fire at the factory and it came delivered with a standard hood. Cool car but was rusted into almost nothing.

:haha::haha: Sounds like something a dealer would give as a phony excuse!

Very cool cars but I'd lose the Rallys also Zig's right, needs a B-Pillar!
With all the $ spent on more foolish projects, has anyone ever created a '70 'Velle Post car from another GM Division 70-72 A-Body 2-Dr. Sedan?:hmmm:
Subject VIN 1343701555045

This very topic has been discussed over a few cold ones at chevellabration and then later years at NOCC but not put into motion yet.

This particular 70 300 Deluxe referenced above showed up for sale in unrestored condition in 2006. Here are the pics I have from then:

A friend has had the necessary panels etc. stashed for a few years, waiting for the right doner car to come along.

A friend of mine owned a gold '70 300 Deluxe. It was orded new by a dealership in Quebec and the sales invoice had wrote in french "add SS striping". The car was a 300 hp 350 with 4 spd. and rubber floor mat and bench seat car, original paint and even the exhaust had resonators on the tailpipes. Another friend & him took it down the Super Chevy in Maple grove in the mid 80's and the car got alot of attention parked amongst the big blocks in attendance. The car got sold and the next owner repainted the car added a cowl hood and cloned it into a big block SS, he sold it to a guy I know who later sold it listed as an SS and then had to buy it back as the new owner was going to take him to court for selling a clone car that was advertised as a true SS, he then sold it to a guy in Nova Scotia and I believe it's still there to this day. It loved the car as it's original state 300 Deluxe, it was perfect under the hood unmodifyed with every little clip and fastener factory correct, it lost it's appeal with me when it got cloned to an SS.

Connecting some dots here. Someone on the site shared a copy of an old newspaper ad from Sherwood Chevrolet, where this car was sold new. Lo and behold, this 300 was one of the cars featured in the ad, as noted by the matching VIN. Thanks to Nasblu for sharing the ad!

There was no Chevelle 300 in 1970. 1969 was the last year for that model.

Not true for Canada, Lee, where this car was sold new. They were indeed still marketing the base model Chevelle in 1970 as a "300." The GM of Canada docs in the first post has "Chevelle 300 Deluxe" indicated on it. In fact, there was even a "300 Deluxe" emblem exclusive to these cars, as shown on this Canadian brochure and on the Fathom Blue car in the photos.
