Hey Burd,

Love your signature.

I waste a lot $$$ on other things too. LOL

Lol. I like hanging with other money wasters, I just bought a case of Megadeath wine. The one red I really liked.

I’m down to finding one belt. Alt I think.

Yep, had a Quanta roll on my 69 Z at high revs. Just buy a good parts store belt and keep the quanta for show.

Does your L72 have the “deep groove” pulleys?

Wow, I must be lucky. I've had Quanta repop belts on three 70 Zs. Two I've taken north of 5k multiple times and the third is still under restoration. never had one roll...yet. should I play the lottery?

Yes, all factory deep grooves including P/S and idler

they lasted about 4 miles on my L78

I've got NAPA Gold on there now with no problems.

I can appreciate the sacrifice someone would make to run a 'dated' component to have the correct appearance, but in this case when the performance of said part is so dismal, I'm amazed the vendor hasn't totally revised the design.

Agree ^^^^^

I’m sure Quanta has heard the complaints over the years, just how we have in this small thread about the belts they make.

That’s reproduction parts in a nut shell, close, but not close enough.

Thank you all for taking the time to discuss these belts. Although my car is just a 325hp 396, I think I will try to find older aftermarket belts that don't have cogs on either top or bottom. My a/c belt is an older Gates belt & has held up well. I will figure out the other 2. I really didn't expect this much responce. Thanks again, Joe

I tried everything I could find in the last couple of years to see what would work with deep groove pulleys. Everything was either cogged on the top or the bottom. Even the Gates belts were cogged on top, and the Gates worked the best of all of them. I tried a few Quanta's, Napa's, and others, Most either squealed like a pig, slipped and screamed at high rpm, rolled over and/or were pitched right off.
