This horrifying tragedy in the beautiful Lahaina is unthinkable.
Me and my wife are devastated by the lives taken by this event along with all the homes, belongings and businesses that don’t exist any longer.

We vacationed in Maui in 2018 and spent most of a day in the historic Lahaina having lunch and shopping.
I have my coffee every morning with this “Bad Ass Coffee” cup which I bought at their front street location.
We checked out that 100+ year old Banyan tree also.

I hurt for these people and this town.
Give them strength Lord.

That is heartbreaking to see!

Very sad... sat under that tree on several occasions. Rode my first ever wave along side of the breakwater.

We sat under it and have Polaroid pics too, from February 1995.
That tree has a very extensive root system and I bet it will come back. Charred ? yes, but not burned beyond hope. I believe I see some greenery in the center that may have survived.

I sure hope so, as that would add hope to the entire community.

Hopefully it will survive just as the giant sequoia's and redwood's have.

My wife and I went to Maui for our 25th wedding anniversary. Such a shame and really hate it for the people. They are definitely in my Prayers.

This image taken from space, shows the signature of the fire at 10:25PM local time on August 8,2023 as observed by the Landsat 8 satellite.Much of Lahaina,a town with a resident population of nearly 13,000 people, appears to be entirely on fire at the time of the image, alongside another large wildfire burning @ the same time near Kihei.

That is crazy and sad to see. The other fire is southwest Of Pukalani, the town the framer, Joe Faustine, lived in that framed our print.
