Lance Hill raced that car and I believe he went on racing Pro Stock into the '70s. Belmont and Gorries seemed to know what a drag strip was. During one of the early '70s CanAm weenends at Mosport, a UOP Shadow made its home at Nurse Chev-Olds in Whitby. Most dealers around here had no interest what so ever. A friend couldn't dig up any GM sponsors and ended up racing a Dodge. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: BELMONT What they ordered for 1969

There was a used car lot in Vancouver at Broadway and Fraser named Belmont Motors. They were heavily into high performance cars, and had an incredible selection of almost new Chevrolet performance cars. These things would come in by car carrier on a regular basis. I lived close by and remember being there one day as they unloaded 4 427 69 Biscaynes. I always wondered where they got their stuff, but now I'm thinking that they were affiliated with Belmont in Ontario.
I was very young at the time and drove my car in there to see about trading into something faster. A salesman had approached me at a gas station and told me they wanted my car. Very flattering. So I drove in and boy were they ever high pressure. They offered me almost nothing for my car and wanted huge money for their car. I tried to escape but they had my keys and had blocked me in. It took almost 2 hours to get away from them after threatening to call the police. Needless to say I never went back. Even today, I only go to car lots after they're closed to look at the inventory. You might say I'm scarred for life. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

When i moved to vancouver in July 1975 Belmont was still in business at Broadway and Fraser. They had the black and white checkered parking lot full of muscle cars-all used ones. It was very common in the for used car dealers in Vancouver to buy wholesale in Ontairo and Quebec and bring cars here. Our nicer climate ment that cars sold new here lasted longer that the salt laden stuff from "back east".
Belmont was still high pressure in 1975. Every close was "sit down and fill out a credit app". $99 down and $99 a month-they never told you how many months. I recall looking at a 70 442 convert there in the fall of 75. the asking price was around $2200,but with their easy finace program the car would cost $3700 over three years. I was able to walk off the lot.
