http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...35/file012.jpg It just goes to show - for every thousand unbelievable stories - one is true!! Best of luck with your new acquisition Charley!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Cool car, Chuckles https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
Haven't done much research on it, but haven't seen many TH400 std. interior 70s. Mine's the same (black console shift plate, no bright trim on the lower dash panels), but has the woodgrain around the dash gauges. Makes me further lean to my belief that mine is a re-bodied 79 Berlinetta https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Charley,
Detail pix PLEASE. This car can speak volumes. I'd love to see pics of the original oil filter, emission label and tire pressure label on the door (or glove box), among other things. |

The door ding that prompted the parking of the car. https://www.yenko.net/attachments/371...ivorZ28023.JPG [/ QUOTE ] That door ding is the whole story behind this car being what it is 35 years later. To put it in perspective the war in Vietnam was still going on when it went into hibernation. When we were chatting about it at VF I got the impression it was far from a done a done deal at that point..what a great outcome! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Unbelievable car. Congrats Charley.

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
An amazing car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif Please take more pictures. How long has it been since the engine was fired up? Got any N.O.S. oil to replace the original oil with? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif

Very Nice Charley, I hope you don’t mind being bombarded with questions and photo requests from us anal 2-Gen Camaro restorers… That car is a Time Capsule |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Congrats in aquiring this remarkable car!!!
Can't wait to see many more detail pics for us anal 2nd Gen owners!!! |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Charley, Your certainly not going to take any advice from me......
There are people at the www.nastyz28.com site such as Jack Seymour, Jeff Betz, Mike Steitz, Dennis Thomas, Ben Arena, and many others who will very much be interested in all the details, pictures, etc As I look at the lug nuts, center caps, trim rings, and many other pieces, I very much would like to see this in person. You should consider having Jack Seymour take charge of "CLEANING" this car. I hope in my lifetime, YOU unearth that 1970 L-78/T-400 I'm waiting for. Sincerely, Chuck Sharin |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Very neat. It doesn't surprise me that it was a bunch of cool guys on this site that made the deal happen!
Like someone had said before...it couldn't have gone to a better home... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Congrats Charley, what a stunning example of an ultra low mileage survivor. With any luck it just might make its way to Carlisle this June and participate in our Vintage program https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif . This car is a piece of history that has been preserved (orig oil)and will continue to be so. There are millions of camaros that can be driven, not this one.

Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
-----Well,,,First, lets get going and spot in that nick!.........Just kidding, just kidding. Why am I not surprised that this Camaro is a Chicago area car??? From my ten years living in Chicagoland, as immersed in old cars as anyone could be, I seemed to notice a relatively high number of low-mile stored cars. I always attributed it to the ferocious winters not DOOR NICKS as in this case.
-----Congratulations Charlie and kudos to Bimbi as the guy who seems to unearth an inordinate amount of really neat rides.......Bill S |

anyone good at decoding ? https://www.yenko.net/attachments/371...ivorZ28033.JPG [/ QUOTE ] WOW!!! one of my favorite colors too ... AWESOME!!! PLEASE NOTE the huge paint run on this rim they seemed to be ALL like that (at least the originals I have seen and I have a NOS set of 4) any 70 that has wheels that DO NOT have runs in them like this needs points DEDUCTED what is the build date? I assume a Norwood car? Also NOTE the rear stripes ending BEFORE the window trim ... : https://www.yenko.net/attachments/371...urvivor020.JPG |
Re: really cool 70 Z28..simply the best.
Charley, great car, I need to see it. I've got bad news, the 1970 license plate has my initials on it "TG" I'm afraid the car needs to be shipped to Austin immediately. I'll race you for pinks with my new '70 automatic Z. Seriously, I love it and I'm learning lots from the engine pictures. I think one of the Camaros Chris P has came from the same dealer. |
