Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
I got my SRT8 6 speed Challenger at dealer invoice. It's one of the best new cars I have ever purchased.

Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Mike
Glad your are pleased. What color/options? Why are you so high on the Challenger? Thanks, |
Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
The prices are coming down on these. I got my six speed three weeks ago and did not pay anything near MSRP. I thought I would be able to use it as my daily driver but seeing salt all over it the last few little snows bothered me. I am picking up a beater tomorrow for when the roads are bad.

Gary
I would have made the same call on the salty roads. You know rust never sleeps! |
Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Sam, It is Brilliant Black metallic, with every option. I will post some pics. The reason I am high on the car is when I sat in it it was like when you are looking for a motorcycle you sat in it not on it type of feeling. It is tight and well built. The dash is easy to read with all relevant information available and the interior ergonomics are right on in my opinion. The shifter throw and being able reach out to work the controls is just about perfect. I also really like how they painted the 6.1 Hemi the original Hemi Orange engine paint from back in the day. The car itself idles quietly with a slight rump, but when you get on it, it gets loud quickly.
I know this sounds crazy but when I was driving it home from the dealer I had a grin on my face that I have not had in a while when driving a car. And what is really crazy is that I find myself going out to the garage to look at it just like one of my old cars. Now I just hope that the Camaro makes it to the streets, it will make traffic lights interesting again in America. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/3gears.gif |
Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Very Cool Gary! Congrats on the purchase...I am really considering one for my next DD also.
As for prices dropping....I agree 100%. I just picked up this '03 Z06 yesterday with 6,400 original miles for a little over $26K! http://i152.photobucket.com/albums/s...s/IMG00104.jpg |
Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Wow! Great Z06 at a great price! I love them '01-'04 Z06's and recently picked up a yellow one myself. I was talking with a friend recently while we were both shopping for some newer muscle and we both concluded that those early Z06's were the best bang for the buck. They'll run low 12's right off the street.
|
Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
I agree 100% Mark. I bought an '02 Z06 brand new and always have wanted another one. At these prices, you just can't beat them!

Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Yes Mark! Good job on the Z06. I love those things and it's nice to see the price getting more affordable. I hope I live long enough to see the new ZR1 become affordable also. That's my dream car right now.

Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
I also had an 02 Z06 several years ago, and sold it for 30K. The car was a blast to drive and in my opinion, are the best performance per dollar car available right now. You can get them for between 25K and 30K, usually well taken care of, will run 12's with a little traction, corner like a go kart, and get 28 MPG on the highway. What other cars are out there for that value that have the performance, and low maintenance cost? The only downside would be the expensive special size Goodyear tires that only last 20K miles or so. I guess a set of Kumho's would fix that.

Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Guys I agree the ZO6's are killer bang for the buck... but another car that is also a great bang for the buck is 2001 and 2002 Porsche twin turbo's .. I know they are not American but you can buy one for under 40K now .. a car that stickered for 120-145K new . And you can get crazy HP from them with some minor mods... just another option. Personally I think everyone should have both ..
As far as the new Challenger vs new Camaro... the new Challenger looks more like a 69 Camaro than the new Camaro looks like any Camaro of any generation....still waiting to see one in person though |
Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Yes, the 996TT's are great cars, but repair costs are HUGE!!! My DD is a Porsche and I would never "go naked" without a factory warranty on one of these cars. Hell, my summer wheels cost $6,500 alone!!! A buddy just did a tranny in his '02 TT and it cost $10K...
I bought a 3 year, 36,000km warranty on the Z06 for about $1,800 bumper to bumper with $100 deductable. So, I think I have the repair cost angle covered https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |

.. I know they are not American but you can buy one for under 40K now ... [/ QUOTE ] No, itīs not American. But itīs a great "Made in Germany" Car. And all Types of Porsche are very expensive here. And donīt speak about Costs of Repairs or Accessories here... Here you have a big favourable effect in the U.S. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/burnout.gif |
Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
Unfortunatley with any "exotic" you need to be careful. Porsches are cheap to maintain. Not much to a box 6 with a couple of turbos hanging off the back . I drive em and race em and I can tell you its not what you know but who you know when it comes to mantaining a Porsche:)Lots of people get laid away on these cars all the time. 10K for a tranny... someone was showing you no love at all !!
Just be glad you didn't have to buy a "real" Porsche tranny like this one https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...h_DSC05176.jpg |

Anyone who does not think the 2010 Camaro is a great looking car needs to watch this video. To me this car has a hint of old school with a touch of class and it looks ready for anything that comes along side of it. I know the LS7 is not an option yet but I still thing the car is very sharp looking.

Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
I ordered a 2010 Camaro 2SS in Inferno Orange with White stripes, - that was until I found out that the rally stripes had been changed to the 1992 heritage style. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif
My dealer is currently holding my order for the Bumble Bee package now estimated by GM for a June 09 announcement. Stripes on the Bumble bee will be more like the concept style which is a very good thing. Now if the Ducted hood on the TF2 Movie car makes it to production that would be VERY good. Rally Yellow and Black stripes could be a very good looking combo. Reminds me of Daytona Yellow. Eye popping. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

What is the difference in stripes between original ones and the ones on the '92 Heritage style??

Re: '09 Challenger SRT8 Pistol Grip 6 Speed Review
yea I know. With the quiet exhaust anf mild street tune it sure don't feel like 500 hp. But they run low 12's all day without touching a thing. Slicks, a tune puts it in the 11's.. The supersnake (725 hp) is deep in the 10's.. In fact MM&FF ran 10.8 with a bone stock one this month at E Town.. It did have DR's though. Amazing..

Here you go:
From: http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/05/1...dp-motorsport/ Filed under: Aftermarket, Sports/GTs, Dodge 1,000 hp, twin-supercharged Dodge Challenger by RDP Motorsport by Jeremy Korzeniewski on Jan 5th 2009 at 6:31PM Click above to enlarge Excessive power is just enough, right? If you abide by that rule of thumb, perhaps you'd be interested in RDP Motorsport's latest offering, which trumps the Challenger's SRT8's 6.1L Hemi and its 425 horsepower with a stroked version displacing a classic 440 cubic inches. That block is topped with a duo of superchargers that offer an astounding 1,000 horsepower. Oh yeah, it's also boosted with two nitrous kits. That's enough grunt to catapult the portly Challenger down the 1/4 mile in the nines, and if that's not fast enough for you, we suggest therapy. This outrageous pony car was recently unveiled at the PRI Show in Florida and is definitely a bit overkill for most people's needs. So, while the Australian company will be happy to replicate this powertrain combination for you for a price, it's good to know that RDP will work with you to design pretty much whatever you need on a custom basis. Check out the video after the break for more. [Source: RDP Motorsport via Challenger Blog via Motor Authority] |
