When I purchased this car 20 years ago I confirmed the original dealership was Baldwin Auto Co shipped 7/19/67 by procuring the NICB Shipping/Assembly Record. Last week I ordered NCRS Shipping/Assembly Record and received it today. The only difference is the ship date is two day earlier 7/17/67. I cropped the document to hide the complete VIN.

Here a document I put together back in 1997. .

I just registered the car and was finalizing the maintenance on the car before going for a cruise. I noticed the amp gauge and decided to check the charging voltage 17.8!!!!, not good. Removed the regulator last night and found one set of contacts fused together. I separated the contacts and cleaned and dressed them. Then I noticed a small wire from the contact had burned and opened up, and fixed that as well.

I have another regulator JIC, but plan to install repaired original, which should resolve the over charging issue. I did check the coils and resistors as well and all ok. Should be good to go for another 51 years.

I finally took her out and went to a local cruise night. Tahoe Turquoise is an amazing color and it really pops even 51 years later. Had a couple more demons to fix but all issues resolved....

I always look forward to driving them. These cars were built to be in motion and the best part is thrashing on them.

Thanks Mike, looks like I have it all dialed in and it runs fantastic. Took it to a local cruise last night and thrashed on it a bit and had a big smile. This no touring car and with 456's it built for one purpose. Presently I have rally wheels with redline bias ply D 70-14, but will be installing TTO with 225 70-15.

cook_dw 07-11-2018 04:38 PM

What bs on the front wheels?

215 65 15 on a 15x8.5" with 3.75" bs rub on the front.

Same tire on a 6" wide same bs; it clears.

I need to check but I had no issue with these on my 69 Z, so I should be ok. I will check the back spacing.... Oh, I stand corrected the fronts they are 215 65 15 and backs are 225 70 15.

69 can take a tall/wider tire than 7 & 8. Depending on the wheel bs I would go max 7" with 3.75" bs wheel. Here is TT D's 15x6" 3.75" bs with 215 65 15

I've been collecting and installing original parts that were pirated off the car when I sold it 2003. Someome recored the radiator incorrectly ( put a 4 core) and took the UN tag off and kept it. The radiator and tag has been corrected. Changed the oil waxed the car and took it out for a thrashing and tucked it in for the winter. I have a few Items to replace. This car just puts a smile on my face as I run through the gears. Over the winter I will be installing TTO' s and some vintage radials.

Here's a video from this morning.

When I sold it in 2003 it was to a friend who deceived me!!! I plan on keeping this car. It brought my good friend Brett & I together and helped plant the seeds for Vintage Certification.

Xplantdad 12-24-2018 02:09 AM

Love it Steve!!

Awesome car Steve! Had a crazy year this year with my daughter getting into college and traveling with her volleyball schedule. I drove my 69 twice, didn't work on my 70 project at all, drove the 99 a lot as my daughter swiped my daily driver, and only got the new Z out twice. We have toget together in the spring, and get out for a cruise out east!
Merry Christmas!
Buddy
