Hi what date was your 70 z28 built?

69 Post Sedan 04-13-2018 01:14 AM

Definitely one of the last two with a straight shifter lever.

NorCam 04-13-2018 04:37 AM

My vote if for that B&M in the last pic. Pure and Nasty looking. :)

Bernhard 04-13-2018 04:55 AM

I'm with the majority on this the last two are sweet.
I like the MR Gasket because it looks to be the older of the two shifters.
Great collection of shifters.

RPOLS3 04-16-2018 07:33 PM

Looks great Dan!

Ryan1969Chevelle 04-16-2018 08:39 PM

I had that Mr. Gasket stick in my 74 Nova SS. It worked good.

Isn't it amazing how a set of rims and tires can change the entire look of a car? Beautiful car. I think the B&M shifter would look at home there.

Just found this picture on 70's Street Machines love this look.

NorCam 04-21-2018 12:23 PM

That's the way I remember many of the street cars of my youth. I grew up in a city that was very rich in street machines and cruise nights.Tunnel rams were popular and so were those gold Moroso covers. :)

Postsedan 04-21-2018 04:15 PM

Dan,

That`s you with the hat....me with the Fro....Zupa with the keys on his hip and Bill saying....."I've got to me one of these", LOL!

Love that Pic!
I remember the early 80's, as I got into cars, the heavy hitters all had the gold Moroso covers & air cleaners and "Center Line" type wheels. Real ones if you were bucks up-
LOL
I bought this Moroso Bling Kit recently to capture the late 70's early 80's Vibe on a future project. (I have NOS set or Moroso gold breathers to swap instead of the chrome)

big gear head 04-22-2018 03:43 AM

I've got one of those Moroso 12 bolt covers. It's not as nice as yours.

Looks great! And love the full one piece front bumper. I know I'm generally in the minority, but I can't stand the split bumperettes on a non-RS car, ugh.

I couldn't agree more!!

Jerry I have a set of the very early gold breather 1973 1974 era. NOS in package Not like the ones you have. These were held on with a screw through the top. $20 + shipping.

Wow looks sharp love it, I’d go with the P&G shifter Mallory coil Delta CD box set up

chevyandpontiac 04-27-2018 04:53 PM

Looking for some input on the L88 hood. It is at the body shop now.

Should I paint the hood to match the car with the stripes

Or leave it Flat Black?

markinnaples 04-27-2018 05:41 PM

My opinion is to paint it silver with the black stripes. A guy I knew BITD had one on his early 2nd gen and he did something a little different with the stripes, but I'll have to see if I can find a pic of what I was thinking.

Agree - silver with stripes would be much better than black, and more "day 2" appropriate. I don't think anyone WANTED to run around with primered parts on their car - they only did it because they had no money for paint, or other priorities.

markinnaples 04-27-2018 06:41 PM

With the stripes from the Berger thread:

A man, now I am jealous!!

How many 4 barrel carbs does one man need?

Ryan

chevyandpontiac 05-15-2018 09:02 PM

Ryan, don't be jealous, Hell I could only find this crooked manifold, the carbs are not even straight.

Spooky 05-15-2018 11:16 PM

What carbs are you going to run? I run Holley 4776's on my Edelbrock STR10. That's what the original directions said to run. After dialing it in it runs pretty good. Not a quick dial in process though.

Scott

NorCam 05-16-2018 01:25 AM

That's gonna be fun to run. I'm just waiting on a new stroker build to come back from my builder next week and then I'm mounting this one up. It's an Offy that was cleaned up, debadged and had the wells deepended to accept the throttle shafts & cams of the 4295 carbs w/o needing spacers between the intake and carbs. My friend Mike has converted a number of these over the years to function like the factory intakes do.

chevyandpontiac 05-16-2018 11:02 AM

That is an awesome looking set up, I am going to run Holley 450 carbs. I already have them so that is why I picked them. I was going to use them on a different set up, but now that this has come up I think it will work out good.

NorCam 05-16-2018 01:09 PM

Those will work good on the LT1 Dan.

Any plans to swap in a different cam or just the addition of the crossram? Also...how is the hood coming along and did you decide on silver with the black stripes?

chevyandpontiac 05-16-2018 02:11 PM

I am going to leave the factory cam in it. The hood is primed and ready for paint. Hopefully next week, I am going to have it painted silver with the matching black stripe (hopefully matching).

Great pics & info on the intake/carb set ups on this thread!
Here is one I picked up last year- looking forward to a small block build and try this out.
it came with the instruction sheet on how to jet carb etc so should be fun.
Previous owner did some work inside with popsicle sticks and epoxy, so should be interesting...

One step closer, the hood is now in primer and ready for paint.

markinnaples 05-30-2018 11:53 PM

Love the hood on 2nd Gens
