Absolutely Gorgeous, man the hours in that... Rolling jewelry for sure. You may have to avoid burnouts on this one Charlie! Enjoy

TimG 02-01-2023 10:27 PM

Maybe Charley’s joined Ryan’s Beetle club as it looks somewhat like a VW Hebmuller.:dunno:

Charley: We need to set up a match race. Your VW and my 69 1.1 GT.

Won't even need a stop watch. Can time it with a calendar.

enio45 02-11-2023 04:07 PM

some serious work on that car! congrats

Turns out there had been almost no maintenance do on the 37 for years. I started to fix some stuff but knew I wouldn't be happy. Sent it back to Steve in Portland to bring it back up to snuff. Needed even alot more than I could see. They have been cranking away on it. Almost any other car I wouldn't bother but I love this car.

Wow. I have never said anything like this:

"Turns out there had been almost no maintenance do on the [fill in the blank] for years."

I bet you are the only guy on this site who has ever bought a car and discovered it needed some maintenance. Am I right?

BTW, not even in the same league, but my "cheap" Yukon XL Denali I bought for a winter beater just required a transmission. Something "got into" the pump just driving down the road and the tranny quit.

Gilda was right: "It's always something."

What a cool car Charley. I can see why you want everything right.

Wow! That’s an amazing build! Looks like it may have needed…everything? Lots of polish and chrome on that thing. Simply gorgeous!!!

Cheers

I have reached stupid level at how upside down I am in this but I really Love the car. In my mind the best looking street rod I have ever owned. It's not going anywhere. Also as long as I don't sell it I won't lose any money.

It's a great looking car Charley, I am glad it's a keeper. Enjoy it.

Steve’s Auto Restoration had a booth at the show today and I asked about your car. They said they were very excited to have it back in the shop and really appreciate the opportunity to bring it back to its former glory + some improvements they’ve learned or gotten access to since building it. Nice guys, and their work is always so good.

As I like to call it, "A Disease"! We all have it, but I don't think any of us are looking for a cure! Bill

Well said, and something I can definitely relate to. Awesome car.

It will be ready for the show only circuit next year...

I HOPE the bolts and used nylock nuts on the control arms in the last pic aren't tightened yet, because the nylon isn't doing anything to prevent the nuts from backing out. Being used is not good either...
