Dave

No I did not buy either, but some one that visits the board did. So I would have to leave comments to him.

Non of the killer cars in the pic with H/O's are for sale that I am aware of, that guy just let me post them upon request because I thought they would make good photo's for people to drool over.

There are still a few more cars possible for sale from the finds I made last weekend, I'm going to try and get back down there this weekend for more pics and data for who ever.

speaking of backyard finds....this "little fella" followed me home the other week. 72 454 4 speed w/ 30k, has 840 heads and 569 intake all other numbers matching. I have known the car and most of the history since 1985..just a shame that it has sat so long.
Still trying to convince the Mrs. that I'm storing it for a "friend"...thats my story...and I'm sticking to it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Here's a link to pictures, before I brought it home and cleaned all the crap out of it.

Story is in the early 80's the car slid off the road and into a guard rail. I was also told the owner had some kind of valve/head issue and these heads and intake were the mechanics solution!!
My cousin owned the car from 84-86..I rememer sitting in it in his garage at @15 years old...back then the car and its interior truely reflected the mileage and just needed to be repaired and repainted.
Cousin then sold it to a mutual friend, who has let it sit outside, mostly uncovered ever since. Now it needs a full frame off...Oh, if I could have convinced my father to buy it for me back then https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif

"were" should have been "work"

That was in fact a work generated error, I try to make it quick when sneeking on at work.

The one good thing is you don't have to worry about body rust, on a steel car the floor boards would be toast. Hopefully the frame wasn't too far in the dirt.

Whats the story on the '66 Chevelle Steve? Is it a total waste? Looks like it's got Okie sheetmetal on the rear anyway.. Is there any potential with it or is it hiding a crashed front end or something?

Re: Backyard finds today

My father-in-law has a 55 Chevy 'vert in a farm ditch here in Iowa......it has been there since the md-60's. It has a 4 inch tree growing through the midle of the floor. Kind of sad, but really cool too! The car and the tree are, one. Sort of a Zen thing? Bows on the top are still good though! Really should go through that ditch and pull some stainless and usable parts out of there. Literally, there are hundreds of cars in there. A 67 Chevelle body, a Studebaker pickup, 59 Impala, pretty neat stuff!

Steve_Hoog 12-31-2004 07:31 AM

Re: Backyard finds today

Get us some pics of that please, sounds cool. Well, cool in a sad way.

Racefan 12-31-2004 07:44 AM

Re: Backyard finds today

Sure, I will do that. The cars in places are literally three and four deep in a creek bed. Not to sound too corny, but it really is like a burial ground out there. Every car came from the family and has a story behind it. The 55 vert got put in there after an engine fire that burned all the wiring. Instead of fixing it......it went "out back". Literally! It was a black car with red interior, very nice car once. I'll get some pics over the next couple days and post. BTW, if anyone is over this way and wants to wander through it.....let me know. I'll take you. There is a decent 55 Ford that could be pulled out and saved, so could the 59 Impala as a matter of fact. Come on by guys, it really is a good time in a morbid sort of way.

Also have a two other pics of some cars rescued from these ditches that he is going to try and get back into thier form. Can I email them to someone and have them post them?
