im not quite sure what the car is worth...i know its a lot maybe some of the seriously interested buyers can help me out [/ QUOTE ]Depends on condition/docs. IMO a real basketcase with docs is at least 60k all day long.MINT restored prolly 5/6X that. From pics I'd say 100k+ at minimum with docs. |
Re: 71 BM Vette
$250,000 since it is one of one unrestored.

Re: 71 BM Vette
A restored gold Motion GT sold at Barrett Jackson in 2005 for $ 226K,
A restored red Motion GT sold on ebay for $150K is out in LI. NY now. (I thought that was very well bought) Another red Motion Corvette sold this weekend for $200K. All 3 had documentation letters from Joel You may want to try it on ebay to see what happens. For best results, you should have the ebay listing done by someone experienced and knowledgeable on the Motion cars and selling on ebay. Bidders will want good pictures and ask a lot of questions such as .. What do you have for documentation? Do you have a letter from Joel Rosen Did you look for a gas tank sticker Does it have the expensive hard to find Motion parts such as Dupree fuel pump, Phase III Super CD, Hone OD, etc. Was it bought from Baldwin Chevy and built by Motion as a new car or was it brought to Motion as a used car And other questions about the condition of the car. |
Re: 71 BM Vette
i do belive my brother was in contact with joel rosen before he past away...yes i do have the gas tank sticker and the hone od etc i also have the original window sticker the car came from baldwin chevy and built by motion as a brand new car

Re: 71 BM Vette
Fast67,
I dont think you could say the car is unrestored from the looks of the magazine and the pics of the car today its definately been painted if its that same car.. Dale, As for price?? Because of your situation I would expect you want to get all the money you can you the car, I would suggest contacting Dana Mecum (Mecum Auctions) and seeing if you could add it to the Spring Auction in Indy, with all the great cars that will be there this year (Daves collection and many more GREAT cars) I can tell you there will be BIG MONEY/REAL BUYERS theyre and the car would probably bring the most it would anywhere and it take the hassle out of it for you. And definately contact Joel and see if he'll doc the car for you tell him your situation and who know maybe he'd do a good deed and wont hook you the $1500. If you need some help let me know |
Re: 71 BM Vette
thanks a ton for the info.

Re: 71 BM Vette

Re: 71 BM Vette
Dale...
- The car is no doubt an amazing find!. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/drool.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif Although not buyers, there's some of us here w/ an interest in seeing the invoice again if posting it once more is possible?. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif And not sure from the above postings if it's sold yet or not but since even sigificant cars are having a tough time in today's market, it could be tough to reach the above mentioned figure?. So it may be best to heed the good advice in the previous posting and if it's definately being sold, not to drag on too long?. Also good advice was someone's mention of contacting Joel and seeing if he'll help w/ docs?. Then auction or eBay it...whatever's necessary to roll the car while the car's appearance and interest in it is fresh?. Best to you and your family w/ everything! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |

Re: 71 BM Vette
Thanks fellas!.
Is the invoice Baldwin generated...please pass the glasses?. And on the engine, by chance is there any additional markings on the pad area or anything stamped at the bellhousing meeting surface...worth asking?https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif. ~ Pete https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |

Re: 71 BM Vette
I would not bother going through an auction house to sell this car. I think you would be giving up way too much in fees. Most of the big muscle car players frequent this site or have friends who do. (others agree??)
I think an Ebay auction would be the way to go. Make sure you have high quality / high resolution picutres of the car and ALL documentation. Do a detailed description. Make sure the description is not one gigantic paragraph with bullet points for the highlights. (You would be surprised how many people just have one huge unreadable paragraph!!) Did you contact Kevin Suydam? He might be a buyer or just a fantastic source of information about the car and its value. If you do an Ebay ad place a post in the For Sale section of this forum. Make sure you list a price in the forum. it can be a high price but the rules say you need to have a price. Your other idea would be to put the car together and then sell it. The car seems like it is in very good shape and would not need too much work to have her up and running. Just an idea..... I love the paint and think this is an amazing car!!!! |
Re: 71 BM Vette
Above sounds like great advice!.
The get it back and running idea especially so!. Also the more documents the better so it may be worth considering dropping the tank for the build sheet too?. I don't know if you can peek past these Enots flip-caps like the factory fillers...they do undo and necks are threaded so it may be possible to first see the sheet from above?. And again considering the whole situation, Joel may help w/ docs or memories of this specific car especially if he spoke w/ your brother...sure worth asking at least?. Again best to you and your family Dale...nice to see everyone here help in any way they can!. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |

In response to the authenticity of this car i can verify that it is indeed a real Baldwin motion corvette and unfortunatley it will soon have a new owner. I can also tell you that HP2 is a sraight shooter and everything he is telling you guys is for real. I know this because i have been a good friend of the family for many years and worked with the deceased owner on researching this car. This car is probably one of the most documented low mileage BM vettes that exists including the original bill of sale and build sheet. From the research we have done we believe it is the same car used in the BM advertisements and possibly the only 71 built. I have many pictures of this car that i will try and post in the near future. [/ QUOTE ] I beleive the last BM Phase III GT built was the Daytona Yellow car Joel owned and restored in 1993. Although that car had the 69 style gills it had the 71 grill. It was also said to be the last car built and had to be built 2 times as a fire burned down the first finished car. The article can be found in VETTE magazine in 1992, maybe June. It was also plastered over every car magazine in 1993 when the resto was finished |
Re: 71 BM Vette
anyone have pictures of this car or magazine scans? thanks!!
|
Re: 71 BM Vette
After seeing the engine photos, I thought maybe this might have started off as a '71 LS-6 Corvette. But seeing the engine bay photos, I see it has the AC expansion tank, which would make it an LS-5 originally.

Re: 71 BM Vette
Did you ever contact Kevin Suydam?
Ebay is one hell of a cheap way to reach thousands of people. Your auction will get a lot of attention. Even if it does not sll on Ebay the word will get out and you will get calls. Write a great description using puncuation and paragraphs with bullet points for the details. (You would be amazed how many guys do one huge unreadable paragraphs!!) Take 15 or so excellent pictures. If you have a freind who is very good with the camera even better!! Also... Put the car in the For Sale section of this web site!!!! |
