Pretty impressive collection. I saw the picture of the '66 Bel Air and had to check it out. The website says it was a frame off. I'm sure it was, but I wonder about some of the detail work including why an L72 car has a 6k tach in it. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif

"His website says the white Camaro is a 396/350 horse"

Interesting.......as the tach sure appears to be the one year only L-78 6500 Redline/7000 Max. Please correct me if you SEE otherwise.

[/ QUOTE ]

Chuck,
While it's not conclusive to me it sure looks like the 6500 redline format tach in that car.

Re: Ray Skillman Collection

I wonder what the 1970 white Camaro SS trim tag looks like, do you think there could be an L78 stamped there? The cars are nice but the descriptions are somewhat vague. I would like to know more in detail about each car.

Re: Ray Skillman Collection

The white Camaro SS also has CKO on the head and low-rise 569 intake. Pretty neat color combo...

I bet when you have that many nice cars in your collection they probably don't even mean that much to you anymore. Just another car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Sam,

I would strongly disagree...and I know that if you were to meet Ray....you would agree that he is indeed very passionate aboout his building, his cars and even more importantly the people that work for him. Ray is in his sixties....and he can do circles around most of us.

Dan.

I met Ray at a swap meet last year in Louisville. I had a 68 camaro rag top there for sale and he walked up like any other car guy and talked shop for about an hour. I didn't know who he was untill he left and handed me his business card and invited me to his collection. He was as interested in talking to me about my lil ole 25K vert and my restoration story as someone who didn't own such an amazing group of cars. When I visited he spent a significant amount of time with me and I'm sure he had more important things to do. Great Guy!

Our show has moved locations and dates. Now at the dupage expo center, 2 days....indoor and out. Aside from nats, this may be the biggest and the best all Pontiac show!

So YOU took the detail shots under the hood huh? And I was trying to give D the credit.

OK, Nice camera work Sammy. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif

Nice looking Camaro.

A very top shelf operation. Also big participants and supporters of local and national drag racing scene.

Couple of side notes, he bought at an auction an old carnival carousel that was bought and planned for the infield at the Indy 500 back eons ago. Now it is fully restored and in the center of this collection.

Last year we bought a new GMC Yukon XL from his GMC Dealership. As we worked with the salesman on the deal, my wife threw out there that she had an old MG she might trade in. Most dealerships wouldn't have cared about a car like that, but the guy called Ray who came over, drove it and wanted it, so that helped on the XL deal. :)

Finding some history on the Camaro would definitely help on the decision.

I would consider it overly restored, but nice work.

tom406 07-16-2020 04:21 PM

Cool car but they put all those pictures up and not a single close up of the engine pad or trim tag? That's a flag that begs for a closer look.

Kurt S 07-16-2020 09:25 PM

Car was original paint, restored by RamAir Dave back in 2000.
Endura was added.

scuncio 07-18-2020 01:44 AM
