Jake, I read through most of your commentary about the car's history. ON the question of the trans mount, if it's not the std 3-spd you need to check the RPO sections in the back of the AIM. The 4spd used the lower holes in the frame brackets.

Verne--Thanks--I discovered that when I put a billet center bearing in the car. I looked at a lot of 4 speed cars at the Barrett-Jackson auction in 2011. The trans mount was in the bottom holes in every one! I looked at the trans mount in our car, and could see no witness marks from bolts in the top holes, so I put it in the bottom holes.
