Im glad he going to be ok, we are fortunate to see him at alot of local
get togethers around town.Every year at the Holiday Motor Excursion he shows up with his latest toy. When I got the STuTZ running a few years ago after sitting since 1951, he was all over it. Its not uncommon to see him driving 2 or 3 of this cars in one day around his shop! |

As an aside here is the Manual for the 1907 White.
http://www.whitesteamcar.com/wp-cont...structions.pdf Instructive is the particular caution for the precise adjustment of "Gasoline" in 1907. So after filtering the "gasoline" through a "chamois skin" as required the operator had to read the specific Baume scale and make a determination as to the grade of the fuel present, for certain grades valve moderation was required to control the burner flame size. Through the specific adjustments called out in the manual, Gasoline during this early period was very likely much closer to a modern refined kerosene grade in formulation terms than anything like a modern gasoline. |
Good grief….I have a hard time figuring out what button to push at the pump when it says “select grade”!:confused2::hmmm::hmmm::biggthumpup::eek2:
Hopefully he recovers quickly. Burns anywhere aren’t pleasant let alone on the face. What a down to earth great guy he is. No matter how famous, he has time for the regular guy. That’s genuine. Cheers:beers: Dave |
