I think the ERay is pretty cool. And in my opinion, hybrids are a far, far, far better option than full EV's.

Just trying to be realistic.

So what if the E-Ray still has a pushrod V8? I doubt that will enter my mind once while tooling down the road.

It definitely is. The Z06 is unlike any Corvette I've ever driven. It's crazy fast and the sound.....man the sound is killer. It's so loud inside the car! The Stingray is pretty quiet inside, even in Sport or Track mode but the Z06 is crazy loud inside while in Sport/Track mode.

The E-Ray will be great. The LT2 is a great engine and with the electric motors, it's more than most folks need anyway. The only "downside" I see to the E-Ray would be the carbon ceramic brakes. For a car that they want driven in the winter, CCBs aren't the most driver friendly choice. They do not want to work until they get warm so you have to make sure to brake early when they're cold.

1000% agree

They may have missed the boat by not going plug-in hybrid. They could have easily made this car go up to 10 miles on just the electric plug-in charge. Think about it: assuming you have a short commute, you drive your E-Ray to the office and use no gas. When you want to have a blast, have a blast.

Any C8 aficionados on here?
Debating on summer tires vs the standard all season tire. $500 upcharge for summer only. Slightly better grip (about 10% on the skid pad). Consensus on the Corvette forum is there are no other changes to the suspension when ordering ZER suspension package. But, I trust the guys on this forum more than that one.

No chance I will drive it in ice or snow.

The suspension tuning is also different with the ZER package. It carries a different RPO code(FED) so it's definitely different than the standard suspension. No idea how much it stiffens it up but I'd bet it's stiffer than standard.

If you plan on driving it in cold temps, don't get ZER. Those tires don't like cold temps at all. They don't grip very well and they can crack when cold. The ZER tires will likely wear worse than the all seasons too. $500 isn't much if you're just gonna use it on nice or warmer days though.

According to some of the guys posting in this thread, the RPO code difference is ONLY the tires.

Where would someone get a definitive answer?

I know the development team, I'll ask.

In about a month they will start taking orders for the Eray, which is actually slightly quicker to 60 (2.5 vs 2.6). HP is almost the same with the Z06 having 15 more, but the Eray being able to use more because the electric motor drives the front wheels.

Obviously, neither is a slug. The Z06 still has that AMAZING flat plane crank V8 sound that the Eray will not have.

First decision will be which one.

Either way, I was hoping for some input on pre orders and if there are ANY dealers that will sell for MSRP (or "sticker" price as I don't think MSRP includes gas guzzler tax or whatever).

Any insights?

MSRP does include gas Guzzler Tax

Lynn 08-05-2023 05:27 PM

Decided on the E-Ray, so no gas guzzler tax. Figured the Z06 would take more "commitment" to drive than the E-Ray. Not many places around here I can take advantage of the 8600 rpm redline.
