Of course, the driveway bells were a contentious point. I was always told not to drive over the hoses when delivering parts. Some shops, it just could not be avoided. Great way to get your ass chewed by a shop owner:rolleyes2:

I worked as a "wrench" in a Sinclair and then an Amoco station in the 70's and those bells were a constant annoyance. Most of the time we had 1 or 2 shop towels draped over them to mute the noise level some. Doug was the Sinclair owner and we worked the 2 service bays and had a "jockey" to man the pumps. But when he was at lunch, late or absent, we had to take the towels off. We got so accustomed to hearing it softly, that it didn't always get our attention when we were on "pump duty".

Variation of the "sticker"

My 49 Studebaker farm truck has this little holder affixed to the dash.

The service "sticker" isn't a sticker at all, but rather a piece of paper with a little handle at the top so you can pull it out. Not legible. Last guy to service it at the Cenex place used a pencil instead of a pen.

I've been looking for a holder like that. I have 100 tabs from the Sinclair station I worked at from when he sold out, but no holder. Anyone have one they would part with ?
