Re: BELMONT What they ordered for 1969
In 1975 I was driving a 1970 W31 4 spd, dark green that I bought from a Datsun dealer in Richmond.

Yeah, I recognise your name now. I had an auto trans W31 as well, but a year later. Can't find any photos though.

Hi Jeff; I do vaguely remember you, but I think you were pretty young at the time. I'm told you have a couple of nice Camaros. I think your uncle sent me some photos last year. They're somewhere in this computer. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif
I have a cousin in England who was an investment banker, living in Bournemouth. He took stress leave, but then he didn't have COPO Camaros to play with either. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif John C |
Re: BELMONT What they ordered for 1969
Wow.That shot of Lance's car brings back a lot of memorys.I hung around with Rick Eaton of Golden Mile Chev and he was a close friend of Lances.Rick had similar Camaro that they ran in Super Stock.Back then high stall converters were not fully developed,so get the cars off the line they would do a spin wheel start. With the line loc on and sticky Atlas Buecrons on the front the car would sit with the rear tires spinning at say 5000.When the lights finally came down all they did was let go of the line loc button and stab it.It sure was hard on the starting line considering a lot of tracks didn't have cement.I ended up buying a hugger orange COPO Camaro that originaly came from Golden Mile.My first car was a 1969 Camaro 350-300 4 speed from Belmont that was a demo owned by Dave Mackay.Great times. |
Re: BELMONT What they ordered for 1969
When the COPO business started a rep from Belmont Chevrolet had to go to the head office for GM in Oshawa. There he placed an order for 10 COPO models. This was the minimum number you could order. Following the first order of COPO cars the orders were simply placed through normal channels at the dealership.
