needs help http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/gar039.jpg [/ QUOTE ] What's the story on the Camaro? |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
It's a tale of the eighties -
Got the blown up 6 cyl Camaro for free - The Chevelle was Mickey Rats (Good Rats) sons car that he smashed on both sides, front and back - Mickey had put some $$$ into it - got pissed sold it for $300 - We flipped the wheels, tires, motor and trans over the weekend and sold the Camaro to a guy on Edgewater Road in the South Bronx for $3500. I worked near by and saw the car occasionally there and racing at Connecting Hwy, but lost track of it over 15 years ago http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/fam523.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/gar040.jpg http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/gar041.jpg |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
Looks Corvette Bronze https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif my favorite! Might just be red in an old faded photo?
Good story https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
You are right, it was Corvette Bronze - the new owner buffed it up and most of the color came back. It was a good 30/30 car.
I don't recall seeing many that color |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
[b]How about some real early muscle
- http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot001.jpg - With drivers such as Herb Thomas, Marshall Teague and the Flock brothers Hudson Hornet dominated stock car racing in the early 1950's. The true sting of the Hornet came from the powerful 7X racing engine. Developed by Marshall Teague and Hudson engineer Vince Piggins, the big six had a bigger bore, bigger valves, relieved and polished combustion chambers, high compression head, high performance cam, split dual exhausts, and "Twin H-Power" carburetors and manifold. This combination boosted the big straight 6 up to 220 gross horsepower, a jump of 75 horses over the showroom stock figure of 145. All the stock components made the Hornet nearly untouchable on the track, and a record setting 27 wins out of 34 starts in major stock car races in 1952 was proof! - The Hudson was on the block behind this old station - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot003.jpg - With all of this - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot002.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot005.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...435/rot006.jpg - |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
[b] This '68 GTO sits on the outskirts of town outside of an old repair station. Everyday the owner drives it out of the shop in the morning, then back in at night before he closes. Other then that it never goes anywhere. The inspection expired in 2/89!
The paint is falling off in spots but the body looks remarkably straight and rust free except for some minor rust spots on the drivers side. The interior shows the effects of a mechanic getting in it every night after a long days work! I'm sure he has plans for it................someday! (Not that I'm one to talk, a couple of the cars I've posted on this thread are in my own backyard!!) - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d005.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d003.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d004.jpg |
Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
it does look good, an eraser would spiff up that interior in no time.

Re: ROTTING MUSCLECARS
I have known about this elcamino for 18 years, the story I got from the neighbor is that the car has sat five feet from his property line since the early eighties and wishes the car would move. Of course the owner has no interest in selling....

I'm not sure if you were joking or not but you are probably right. I may end up selling it whole just so it will be saved. This seems like a good place to try posting pictures for the first time. Here it goes:

[b] This former race car sits around the corner from my house.
Its been outside at least a year - maybe two. The buckling of the plexiglass on the passenger side is new, probably from the winter snows and thaws. - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d011.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d012.jpg - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d013.jpg - |

[b] ' 68 GTO - I was up in Honeybrook this morning doing a site inspection out in the middle
of nowhere and found this beauty set back about 15 feet off the side of the road. It looked like it was pulled in and parked quite some time ago. It was all there, interior and all with the front seats piled with hubcaps and other parts. The pickup parked behind it looked as if it had not moved in five years. - - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d020.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d019.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d021.jpg - http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t...27435/d018.jpg - - The "68 Gem" plate expired in June '99 |

Ron It was a badly peeled decal - couldn't make it out. I don't know if the car is for sale, its sitting across from a house, but where it is, is just a wooded area. The bees that lived there were very active that morning - so I didn't get that close! Glenn |
