Here is the progress on mocking up the cross ram.
** what should I use for an air cleaner (no velocity stacks). |
I like these with the smaller 8" chrome filters like the old Mr Gaskets or something along those lines. It's looking good man!
|
If you search Day 2 Nova in this forum you'll see my crossram with a single filter or with double filters. Just to give you other options the Offy crossram runs the same single filter as the factory Z28 crossram. Just an FYI
|
Which single air cleaner is that on your Nova?
|
A pair of "fly-eyes"?

Okay here are a couple of pictures, First 2 Fly eye air cleaners will not fit. They are too big around. I put 2 9" Mr Gaksets on it, I kind of like it. Thoughts?
|
Too bad the fly eyes didn't fit. The two that do fit look great though!
|
If the filters fit.......than that is it!!! lol
I think they’ll be just fine Dan. Use them until you find something that you like better. Kurt |
The fly style filter is very cool, did they make them in a smaller outer diameter?
The small air cleaners are okay because you already have a big wow factor in the intake and carb set up. |
I like the 9" filters on there. I had an NOS fly that I parted with a while ago. Too many of them catch fire when fuel pukes up into the foam or when carbs backfire. Crossram's do that more often than single carbs so that to me would be recipe for a flamed out foam.

Most B-A hood on a 70-81 Camaro ever invented.

Don't know what times it was capable of, but he ran his fair share of street challenges with that car and I'm sure it was at least a low 11 second car or better. I still want one of those. Just like this one pictured above. |
My other issue is I still haven't nailed the headers. I have a set I need to try and fit.
I do not want a new set or silver ceramic coated ones. I want mine white or blue (I think) |

The Z has finally made it to the paint booth, they are fitting the hood now. Hopefully have it painted this week.
|
Am gonna love this!!!!
|
That's going to look great, and as Dave stated, that's absolutely the best hood for a 2nd gen Camaro, ever.
How did you decide to do the stripes? |
The stripes are going to be straight back, like on the factory hood (I hope).

I know I originally said no to velocity stacks, but I have not found anything I love.
What do you guys think of the velocity stacks? Sorry about the sideways picture I thought I had it cropped correctly. |
They look good and its a classic look. The bonus is that they also work well in providing vertical air.
|
I like the looks of V/S but wouldn't that mean cutting that sexy new hood?

Thanks for fixing the picture for me. I think they will fit under the L88 hood, if not they we be going on the shelf.

|
Man is that SaWeet!!! You got to be stoked!!!
|
Man, where is that drool button? Absolutely love it.

Wow, time to get a crazy shifter in there!!

That could not have been easy to lay out those stripes on that hood. Looks like he did a great job
|
That's cool!
|
When are we hanging the old hood on the wall :)
Looks awesome! Dan |
He said it sucked laying out the stripes. he actually had to paint them twice. the worst part is getting them in the valley of the L88 hood.
Dan V. I am back to having 2 hoods at Josh's, we will have to rearrange the walls a little. |
