Got the exhaust done tonight...during a thunderstorm...26.5" long pipe after collectors, 17230 Dynomax round ultraflow mufflers installed, 20 degree downturn tips after mufflers, no tailpipes are going on this car...hopefully it sounds good.

We are going to finish a few small things on Saturday and start it up for the first time...my son will do a video and put it on YouTube. Today I bought a battery for it, got 10 gallons of 95 octane gas for it. Saturday is the big day, 2.5 years of waiting...and more $$$ than I thought it would be...just today alone, battery $155, fuel, $65!!!

300deluxe 04-17-2022 01:50 AM

Heres a quick little video my son did with his phone...we will do a better one in a week or two. Drove it for a few miles...have a few issues we need to deal with, but overall it was a good day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcCxKybjYcQ

Only the few hardcore TLB guys here will understand the significance of that door art!

..and Richard Ruth.

Mr70 04-20-2022 09:16 PM

Here's the actual clip of Richard Ruth speaking..

300deluxe 04-20-2022 10:09 PM

My son put a pic of the door art on a Facebook Two Lane Blacktop page, and Richards wife commented on it and said Richard likes the door art on my car...that was cool!

The car was a 3 pedal car and the 3rd pedal is still in the car under the carpet for future use...I had to do this car as an auto as a deal with the wife, cause my other car is a manual which she can't drive.

300deluxe 04-23-2022 02:25 AM

More progress done today...converter shield on, fuel pressure gauge on, and front CPP 1" sway bar installed.

It was fun driving it, thats for sure...I didn't want to drive it too much because it needs alignment yet...hopefully saturday morning a local place will do it for me. That 383 is a torque monster....I have to run "Blueprint" break in oil for 500 miles and keep RPMs under 4000....after that I change oil, filter, and its ready to go. We did lots of checking for leaks, bolts that needed retightening etc...every mechanical part darn near is new on the car, engine, transmission, PS disc brakes, rear leafs, shock bar, gas tank, sender lines, shocks, all fron end components, steering box, PS pump, pulleys, belts, water pump, headers, carb, fuel regulator, alt, brackets, mufflers and pipe, traction bars, rims, tires, tach, gauges, steering wheel, air cleaner, master cylinder, throttle linkage, dist, wiring, coil, fuel pump...and I'm sure there is other things I forgot about. Cost more to build this car than what I figured!

Retake that completed shot w/o the late model car in the background and then convert it to black and white, and you have an instant vintage throw back picture worthy of framing.

Outstanding build on that Post Car! :Can-I-Have-It:

Looking very cool !

"I'm sure there is other things I forgot about. Cost more to build this car than what I figured!"

Take any guesstimate and quadruple it and you'll be closer to actual cost...

My Blueprint Engines 383 does nothing but leak oil from nearly everywhere, very disappointed and regret buying this engine. Can't even drive the car anymore its so bad.

Oldss 09-10-2022 12:37 AM

Is it from all the chrome pieces? I have trouble getting anything that has been chromed to seal.

Too Many Projects 09-10-2022 04:10 PM

Sorry to hear that. Have you contacted Blueprint ? they seem to have a good reputation and may be willing to help.
Where is the leak(s) coming from ? where did you first notice them ?

As Oldss said, chrome timing covers and oil pans are notorious for leaking as nothing sticks to chrome.

300deluxe 09-12-2022 01:41 AM

The intake was, we removed and resealed, fixed. Valve covers remover, new gaskets, but I still think they leak. There is oil directly under rear main as well.

PeteLeathersac 09-12-2022 03:36 PM

'

For sure rear leak isn't running down from Dizzy base, back of Intake or OPS?
Gaskets against chrome are often best glued to chrome parts using enough material for a good seal between w/ opposite side of gasket being the compressed seal allowing removal later.
Best of luck and don't get discouraged as your car really rocks!!!:headbang:
:beers:
