You know how it goes guys https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/rolleyes.gif (I know Ed does https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif ), you have the best of intentions of doing all that nasty <u>fill-in-the-blank </u> work, but that car project just keeps calling you back. It was a good day. I got half of all the yard work I intended on doing, but got a good fill of Nova projects done!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

As for the "cute display", I have always been fascinated by women's synchronized swimming, particularly those aerial shots of the cool designs they make.... https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif (that's my story and I'm stickin' to it)

Nice job. Did you have to re-dye or re-sew the belts?

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration

Hey Denis - I did have to redye the belts due to mild sun fade (western PA). They were turning a deep blue. I used "Rit" in hot water, stirred regularly, for 2 sessions of 1 hour a piece. I couldn't get my field stove working so the Mrs. kindly allowed me to use her stove. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ins/tongue.gif

I did not need to resew seams or tags - they were in nice shape. I only dyed up to the tags so as not to get dye on them.

The Roof Deuce won't be making its public debut at SCR this year as Ed M. mentioned in another thread https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif . But, I am working to get it up to Bob Ashton's extravaganza in Chicago in November. In the mean time, I have time to do a few small remaining projects.

This project made me scratch me https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/hmmm.gif . I had assumed since Don Yenko had a bit of a reputation as being frugal that the "YENKO" emblem on the Dixco hood tach would be stenciled or stamped on. My original white on the emblem was in decent shape but the frame around it was very dull. I polished the entire frame and found this:

I 'spect the gurus knew this already, but I thought this was pretty unique.

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration

Yes, they were made that way direct from Dixco and shipped to Yenko with the logo already in place. Don didn't apply the logo himself. Many variations of this tach were produced with various logos on the face...apparently you just ordered them direct with whatever logo/packaging you desired and Dixco produced them that way. Most are raised like that, some were flat. I've actually seen the standard Dixco HT/x logo both ways... likely dependant on the time/year of production. FWIW the white Yenko logo WAS indeed a silk screen/tampo done over-top of the raised lettering.

Rich,

Can only do one big car show a year at this point, so no https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/crazy.gif . Gonna miss SCR big time! You all have a hoot and hoist one (or two https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif ) for me.
