Sam
Your hired.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif JMO, I would not get it a big debate about the plating type.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Your choice of clear zinc is fine and may be correct for original Hurst stuff. And other Chevy stuff. I just happen to like the cad if you can get it. It does have a different look. It is a better protection, that is why is is still used allot in the aircraft industry. Carry on CDR |
Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
WOW!! Was just checking in to see if anyone had heard anything from our friends in Hawaii and happened upon this update. Don't know how but I had missed the entire Dec 09 post with all the deuce pics. The car looks FANTASTIC!!
Just reinforces the fact that we made the right decision to get it into the hands of someone who could give it the care it deserved. I also love the look of those traction bars. And that shifter looks amazing!! Earl and I can't wait to see it again. Just looking at the pics actually made my jaw drop. Am really looking forward to getting together with Sam and Schonye so we can chew the fat about the restoration and the good ole days. |
Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Linda - hope you and Earl can meet me and the Deuce at the November MCACN show in Chicago. Thanks for the kind words and for checking in Linda. Say "hey" to Earl. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif
P.S. Forgot to ask you when I visited you in December, the Deuce already had a decent Hurst shifter when it was delivered to you (another variation of the Competition Plus). I am curious why Earl transferred his Chevelle's Competition Plus in the Deuce. |
Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Earl says he just liked the feel of this shifter better. Probably because he was more used to it from running it in the Chevelle. Then he chuckled and said it just looked and felt "manlier"!

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Ha! I get that. The shifter handle you guys put in the Deuce is definitely a different angle. It angles back toward the seat and toward the driver.

Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Sam,
Now all you need is one of these....your choice of White w/black or Black w/white. Great job! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...0/P1010153.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...0/P1010154.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...0/P1010152.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...0/P1010156.jpg Dan. |
Re: Roof Deuce Restoration
Nice Dan! Actually, howz about black w/ "fur"?! This is Earl showing me the original flocked black Hurst "T" handle. Its a little long in the tooth so an NOS one will top the Hurst CP shift handle! I 'spose the cold western Penna winters made these puppies a requirement. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif
