I thought 9737 was a 13/16" sway bar ?

Re: Photo of 68 Camaro's at Kenny Ross Chevrolet ?
1969 9737 COPO Camaros had a 13/16 bar
1968 9737 COPO Camaros had a 1 1/16 bar by most accounts but some still say they had a 1in dia. bar. I wonder if they used both for some reason. Chevy made a bunch of bars available as Special Equipment for road racing. They were available from about 3/4 in. to 1 1/16 in. to tune the suspension to different tracks run in SCCA. Also made a rear bar. Don was said to be very good with sway bars and springs from many years of SCCA racing |

The front sway bar on 68' Yenkos was 1 1/16. There is different hardware that hold the bar to the frame and two additional frame brackets located inside the frame to support the bar.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics...7-dsc_0457.jpg

Re: Photo of 68 Camaro's at Kenny Ross Chevrolet ?
In my experiences with running and using chassis dynos the drivetrain loss from a manual which pretty typical of 15% and an auto is %20 so the 6% (give or take) difference between the 450 to 425hp flywheel hp listing in the ad would make one assume it was a solid lifter L72 type of engine with a TH400.. I would think that Yenko would toss one of the auto cars on the dyno just to see what the drivetrain loss would have been.. Remember this was the very early stages of auto trans being able to handle the power and shift almost as fast as someone in a manual and it be consistent on the shifts..
That's my worthless $0.02 As for the sway bar does any know why the change to the larger bar was done.?. Most of these cars were built for straight line not the SCCA.?. |

Re: Photo of 68 Camaro's at Kenny Ross Chevrolet ?
That's a big bar there. Looks like they engineered a fix to prevent the threads from pulling right out of the frame....

Awesome swaybar info also great to see the frame brackets in the one pic too. Does the Desert Rat and/or other known '68 9737 cars all have this bar same setup? Being the bars were a handling package, is it know if any 68's Road-Raced by Team Yenko were built from 9737 cars? - Here's a bunch more old ads for '68 Yenko Camaros only, I've tried to lay them out chronologically but may be mistakes. I didn't include duplicate ads w/ different dates although some may be the same cars through the years/different owners? Note not all are 427 cars, regular L78's sold at Yenko or unconverted 9737 cars? :hmmm: :beers: ~ Pete - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9506-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9507-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9508-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9509-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9512-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9513-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9514-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9515-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9516-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9517-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9518-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9519-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9520-image.jpg - https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pic...9521-image.jpg - |
