It's chopper gun with inserts to bolt to hood hinges, but nothing for the hood latch. This is the only hood that I've been able to find that is close to me. I was looking for a flat one.

I personally would use a stock steel hood and cut a hole in it. Very few used fiberglass hoods back in the day if running TR. Dress up the bracing underneath by welding up the opened holes etc

I want to use a fiberglass hood to keep weight off of the front of the car. Here is what it looks like on the bottom. I don't think it's ever been installed on anything. What is this thing worth? If it's worth very much then I might not cut a hole in it. I kind of like the way these look with velocity stacks sticking through them.

I personally like flat hoods with tunnel rams and blowers. Its a killer look that I never tire of.

Shame to cut up an original early L88 hood.

Is it going on the race car in you avatar?

big gear head 05-07-2019 12:03 PM

Yes, but it's not a race car. I just race it at the Super Car Reunion. It's a street car most of the time. If this is worth something then I'll not cut it up, but I'd like to have an idea of it's value. I bought it thinking that it was just another hood that someone bought and decided not to use. I thought that my search for a hood was over.

I am no expert on those old hoods, but I think it is worth considerabley more than you gave and probably, as a vintage piece, should not be cut up. I am having almost the same dilemma , except nothing I have is valuable. Just looking for correct day II.

For a street car, that thing sounds wicked-nasty, as I recall from last year. Has a very “healthy” sound.

OK, this time I'm pretty sure that the search is over. I picked it up in the swap meet at the Hot Rod Reunion Friday. This is THE hood that I was looking for all along. Unlimited Products flat hood that bolts to hinges. Never used before. This one is getting a big hole in it.

Congrats Freddie! No sense having carbs stacks "peek" out of the hood - let them stand out "loud and proud"!
